Today Mike said "it's a man to man game. Didn't do enough to win those matchups". He also said after watching the tape again he felt the energy yesterday was actually pretty good. Look. It's admirable stuff that Mike thinks his recievers are capable of more and he just needs to unlock their inner greatness. But that isn't a young Jordy, engaged Jennings, and crafty Driver running ISO routes. It's Adams, a not yet back Jordy, Janis and Dick Rodgers. If the plan is to have those guys work...

He is failing them by refusing to help them beat the man coverage. We see a bubble screen now and then and that's the extent of the man beaters. Well, let me say from what we can see. I'm not watching from the birds eye so I just have to assume that when Rodgers is holding the ball for 6 seconds it's because it's the stale asa plays that we've seen for 20 games now.

Fans talk. Players play. Everything is automatically contingent on them winning out. But I'm of the mind that the Badgers will not be final 4 even if they win the B1G Championship if they don't get a revenge win. It has to be one of the two- Michigan or OSU. If its Penn State, there is going to be a perception that OSU or Michigan is still better.

If the Badgers win out and don't make the Final 4 over OSU it won't be because OSU is better, it will be because OSU has more "stars". That is who the Committee wants to see in the playoffs, "stars".

The more I think about it and hear pundit's blathering, the more I think this is the case. Item 1: Beat Purdue this weekend. As noted, it's really out of our control. Obviously nobody was impressed by the huge win over IL. We need to keep getting huge wins and dominating defensive play even with all the injuries. Now with Meeechigan loosing their QB, it's going to make this harder for us as far as the polls go. Fact is, we have to win the B1G. No way about it and we can't control the rest.

This weeks rankings just came out: 1. Bama 2. O$U 3. Michigan 4. Clemson 5 Washington 6. Bucky 7. PSU 8 Oklahoma 9. Colorado 10. Oklahoma St. So it kind of shakes out like this I guess. OSU or Michigan will have 2 losses after their game but will the committee drop down either of them if the game is close? I kind of wonder if they will? Bama has Auburn but it is at Bama so I don't expect an upset Clemson has a so so South Carolina team Washington has the apple cup with Wash St. If Bucky...

Michigan really had their way with the UW OL and unlike Ohio State the Badgers couldn't run the ball as well. I actually think UW would have a better chance of beating the Bucks than UM. Either scenario wouldn't be very likely. Penn State is probably the best draw of the three. However, UW playing and beating a Michigan or Ohio State in the BT championship game would have made UW a lock for the final four. Now they need help IMO as Ohio State is in for sure I think?

Missed the 2-4 qtrs and probably won't watch based on the comments during the game and the final score. Watched Rodger's post game presser, numerous times he had a smirk when responding to how this or that can be fixed. Almost an "oh **** it" kind of response. If that's the case, McCarthy has lost the team.

Brian Kelly would also have to be fired. In 2015, Brian Kelly's ND went 10-3 and ended up #11 in the final poll. They lost by 2 points at Clemson (#2 in final poll), by 2 points at Stanford (#3), and to Ohio State in the bowl game (#4). Yes. Notre Dame is down this year, but I can't imagine them firing him less than a year removed from an outstanding season.

Brian Kelly is much like MM....very stubborn, overly loyal to terrible assistant coaches, can't commit to the run game, and is not able to adjust during a game. Just watch tape of the game they played in near hurricane conditions a few weeks ago at North Carolina State (a game that should have never been played) and explain why Kelly was compelled to stick to a shotgun formation, empty backfield and continue to throw the ball. Then he threw the center under the bus after the game for some...

It's a decent thought though. He's a good coach, and they need one. Of course, gotta be able to recruit. That's the name of the game in college. But he can tun 11 personnel all damn day and it'll work with the right guys. But I'm pretty convinced that McCarthy is coaching his final season, and we'll all look back at the 2015 NFC Championship game as the delineation when it all started to go wrong. They don't appear to have ever recovered from it.

The stuff coming out now is Jerry Springer $hit... Basically told his boss that they lost the Gold Cup because it was fixed for Mexico to win so they would have to have a big money playoff game vs. the US for the Confederations Cup berth. Arena is not the long term answer though...I think Gulati is feeling the heat, and just trying to get the team qualified for the WC, and will worry about the long term after 2018.

I didn’t see much of the game, but regarding the OLine: None of the starters played, and that means ALL backups played (obviously). That means there’s 5 weak/weaker links. You can’t give help with a TE or FB or play calling when you have 5 backups. I don’t think it will necessarily be a huge issue if a starter needs to be replaced for a period of time because you can help out a backup, maybe even two. The issue, I think, will be if multiple positions on the line go down. Right now there’s...

I read a few posts about the backup offensive linemen and how their performance directly affects the performance of the skill position players and completely agree. To be able to see what your backup skill position guys can do against another team's defense in game situations would be beneficial towards determining the final roster, in my opinion. Reading this in conjunction with CuPackFan's post it struck me that maybe the mobility is what they want as part of a run offense. Maybe they aren't looking for a Rodgers or Favre pocket passer but a Cam Newtonesque type of QB, which would make sense in Mayo's offense. It may be gravy if he can avoid boneheaded passes and actually stay in the pocket when needed. I guess a good indicator could be what type of WR they draft. I doubt the Taysom Hill thing though. Since most of these are nobody schools I've never watched, it's interesting how most of these passes look like they are directly on point, until you realize it's being thrown to the corner and not the receiver. Also this: "Across 13 games in 2019, Love threw an FBS-high 17 interceptions. His 3.6 percent interception...

20 TD passes and 17 INTs in his final season in a conference known for pass-happy offenses? Doesn't get many yards with his legs, either (2.2 yds per rush attempt). I'll admit I wasn't happy about the Rodgers pick in 2005, but this looks much worse.

I guess I'm ok with the pick. After my initial disappointment, hearing how he was the final 1st round grade prospect the Packers had on their board, I get it. It seems they couldn't find a suitable trade-down partner, so they went with the value. I would just like to see them tear it up from here through Saturday, though. Did GB pick one year too early? This could be a really dicey situation if they take that 5th year and he absolutely blows in year 4. HUGE gamble here, that changes a lot about taking a QB for me. That 5th round LB'r is horseshit. He might as well pulled a Viking & just not turned in the card. That dude probably isn't making the final 53. PS material & out of the league in 2-3 years. With the Packers picking up two OG's it makes Lane Taylor's position as the top reserve OG a bit shakey. Taylor is entering the final year of his contract, costing the Packers $5.4875M on the cap with a $1.375M dead cap hit if cut. He needs to perform well to earn his roster spot.

Gonna close with this final thought on the SB. Other than Bill B the greatest influence on yesterdays game was the Pats OL which played great all year. And was simply incredible last night. Only one player on the Pats OL was drafted higher than round 4. Brady is a pocket statue and was only sacked 20 times in 2018. Dante Scarnecchia is the best OL coach in the NFL. And that’s saying a lot given how great Mike Munchak is. Hard to accomplish anything without a really good OL.

I agree on that point, but it is still counterintuitive to take a team that just lost their conference title game over the team that beat them that would end up right behind them in the standings. If Wisconsin would hold on the final rankings would be 1. LSU 2. Clemson 3. Oklahoma 4. Ohio State 5. Baylor or Wisconsin (both Baylor losses were to Oklahoma).
