Setting the Scene:

Packers release K Giorgio Tavecchio:

My own two cents here...Tavecchio goes down as one of the kindest and personable guys I've ever covered in anything

Rainy morning here in GB...2.5 hours until practice, no word from  on moving things indoors yet.

Monday's 11:30 a.m. practice has been moved indoors and will be closed to the public:

Rain has stopped, but heavy showers push  inside Don Hutson Center for practice today.

move practice indoors, meaning it's closed to fans. Tomorrow is last chance to see a practice but there's rain forecast again.

There is no air conditioning in Hutson Center. It's a little steamy in here.

Been a while since practice has been I here ...

Today's practice script has 10 periods. Waiting outside the Hutson Center to enter

Now inside. And it looks like no pads today.

Packers inside today. Going in shells again...

:

Hearing teams inquiring with Packers about trade for TE. Packers feel position of strength. Bostick drawing attention.

Though Jerry Fontenot certainly did not feel TE was a position of strength last week.

Brandon Bostick mentioed here. RT : Could Raiders turn to Packers for TE help?

Aaron Rodgers and John Kuhn...

<

Welcome to  practice inside the Don Hutson Center.

Injuries:

Packers DNPs Tavecchio (not here) Dorsey (not here)Bush Nixon Harris Richardson Hayward Burnett Reed B. Jones Tretter Bulaga Sherrod Worthy

For , Tramon Williams has a helmet, as do Cobb and Nelson. Practice in shorts, though.

Cobb practicing n has only protective sleeve covering injured right biceps

T Williams doing team stretching for first time since bruising his knee

CB Tramon Williams has a sleeve around his knee. He seems to be running fine.

CB Tramon Williams is running scout team routes for the defense. He has his helmet and appears cleared for some practice.

In the secondary, as expected, Burnett and Hayward out with their hamstring injuries. Not playing at KC.

Lining Up:

Young gets the first snaps to open jog thru with the No. 2 OL followed by Coleman. Perhaps Rodgers won't play at all vs. KC on Thursday.

Nelson and Cobb getting offensive reps with Vince Young at QB.

QB Aaron Rodgers doing mostly individual drills. Doubt he's playing Thursday night.

Special Teams:

Jeremy Ross takes first punt, now Randall Cobb, Tramon and finally Hyde

Interesting that Brandon Bostick is on the No. 1 punt return unit. He's in DJ Williams usual spot.

Bostick also is on kickoff return, with Alex Green getting the first return.

Finley as usual working one on one with TE coachJerry Fontenot on the side during special teams drill.

Sam Barrington also got some work on first punt return unit

RB Alex Green getting all the reps on kick returns.

Shields takes KOR rep

Shawn Slocum calling for special teams units to pick up the tempo.

later on...

Right side of punt coverage are all tight ends: Wiliams, Taylor, Bostick

Punt returners this period: Tramon Williams, Ross, Franklin.

Cobb also fielding punts.

Skills and Drills:

At the jugs machine. Starks drops first ball. Kuhn, Franklin follow

Franklin, Lacy and Green catching balls off the machine.

RB ball drills.

More of the running backs

More ball drills with the backs. Figure 8

DuJuan Harris is a spectator again

DuJuan Harris watching on during  practice once again

Jerel Worthy off in the corner doing work at the sled. Been out all camp. Probably PUP-list bound.

Cobb catching passes from Rodgers. Both him and Nelson have some catching up to do.

OLBs working on spin move as pass rushers

Randall Cobb in WR drills.

receivers work on route running while Kevin Dorsey watches on

Receivers James Jones and Jordy Nelson. Green Bay healthy at wideout again

Jordy Nelson in  WR drills.

Randall Cobb and Jordy Nelson

More Jordy Nelson ... And random dude's arm in shot at end.

A close-up of Randall Cobb. Has band over the bicep, doesn't seem to be bothering him last two days

Charles Johnson more athletic than the other rookie receivers. Just made a one-handed catch in this drill, pinned ball to his helmet.

QB-WR/TE drill at  practice.

Rodgers to Cobb. Coleman to Finley.

Had checked off Moses as here but he's not in helmet now n watching OLBs in fundamental drills

Looks like Dezman Moses may have dropped out. Doesn't have a helmet. He's had a disappointing camp.

Outside linebackers Nick Perry, Mike Neal and Andy Mulumba hit the sleds while Dezman Moses watches on

 11 vs 11:

Vince Young starting out with the 1s.

Vince Young gets first snaps in 11 on 11 with first team. A sign for Thursday likely.

Vince Young to Jarrett Boykin

Lacy takes first carry without Harris. Young under center, Mulligan at TE

Barclay lines up as No 1 RT during team run

First snap of team offense has Cobb and Nelson as the base WRs with Young at QB.

Franklin gets 2nd halfback rep.

Starks again gets snaps behind Lacy, Franklin, Green.

B.J. Coleman is going to see more than his usual 2-3 series, too. Hits Myles White for 15-20 this drill. Followed by Rodgers bomb to Nelson.

Rodgers airs it out deep to Nelson. Nice throw.

On scout team, Rodgers hits Nelson deep over Means and Jennings. Nelson running full speed.

Rodgers runs the scout team offense. Hits Nelson for an 85 yard TD on shot play first snap.

In fact, most of the starters were on the scout team offense there as Rodgers went deep to Jordy Nelson, celebrated completion with EDS.

Nelson, Cobb, Jones: big 3 receiver trio finally playing together at same time.

VY with a pick to MD Jennings; offense running off cards, though.

Said before/saying again: I'm not sure Young is an upgrade at No. 2 QB. But has potential to be, and that's why he's here and Harrell isn't.

Young and Coleman are splitting reps exactly in two. Each has had two with the No. 1 O-line.

Rodgers took four of the 16 snaps during team run. All were with scout team offense. Guessing he won't play at KC.

If this team run is any indication, we will not be seeing much of the  starters on Thursday night in Kansas City.

Newhouse starting at RT with 1s on this series.

Newhouse getting some run with 1s at RT...then flopping to LT with Barlcay in, Bakhtiari out.

Now Newhouse working at LT with ones. Keeping him fresh at both tackle spots

Banjo covering a slot receiver in the dime package.

Tramon Williams worked across from Shields on D.

Tramon Williams taking reps in team drill. Big step for him. Just covered James Jones deep.

Coleman and Young getting work with starters. Coleman pass up the seam over House is dropped by Cobb.

Shields and Tramon were the starting CBs with Hyde in the slot.

Ross, Boykin, Walker next line of receivers.

Banjo now working nickel with injuries to reserve corners

Young with a nice throw to Myles White on an out route but White dropped it.

And now Jones drops a scout pass from Rodgers

Contagious. James Jones drops a pass and Edgar Bennett motions immediately for him to do push-ups.

Rodgers down middle to Finley, LB Nate Palmer with a nice breakup.

Nate Palmer had a nice pass defenses against Finley in coverage. He's come on over last week

For all the love Finley is getting, he still drops too many balls and fails to consistently make the tough catch. He's not an elite TE.

Van Roten fails to elevate a snap to Coleman

Tramon jumps and contends pass to Charles Johnson. No issues.

Nice throw by Vince Young to Boykin on a comeback. House closing fast but gets it there.

Young gets picked by Hyde on curl to White. Had a dart to Boykin few plays before

Young picked by Hyde on sideline pass intended for White.

VY, asking for PI, throws another pick, this time to Hyde. Believe that was a scout defense play...

Micah Hyde picks off Young, walks in for a would-be touchdown.

Datko false starts two series in a row.

Coleman fade down right sideline, great over the shoulder catch by Tyrone Walker.

Great release byTyrone Walker. Beats Smith jam and hauls in a beauty over the shoulder from Coleman.

Red Zone:

Derek Sherrod continues to work individually on other side of Hutson Center while  run through red zone period

Vince Young directing No 1 offense in red zone period.

<

Completions to Finley and D.J. Williams in red zone for Young.

Add Charles Johnson to the list. Drops a slant from Coleman. Next play, QB finds Boykin for a touchdown.

Coleman to Boykin for TD over Shields in red zone period. Coleman making some nice throws today.

Great catch by Tyrone Walker again on the sideline, this time from Rodgers.

Heck of a grab by Walker from Rodgers. Twists body around to outside with Smith covering.

Then in scout team, Rodgers throws perfect pass to Cobb running seam route into the end zone

Rodgers spinning it with scout team. Back shoulder to Walker, Cobb on a line over Banjo. He enjoy scout team more than most.

Another drop for Johnson.

Ball glances off Charles Johnson's hands from Coleman. Johnson likely heading to practice squad.

Rodgers on fade to Cobb in EZ broken up by Brandon Smith. Great play.

Back-ups on defense up now. Brandon Smith breaks up a Rodgers pass to Cobb. ...Means takes out Walker in end zone next play.

Means knocks ball from Walker's hands in end zone, and knocks Walker down as well. Pass came from scout team QB Rodgers.

Brandon Smith playing better since St Louis, breaks up fade to Cobb in back end zone

Practice ends with a dropped touchdown by Bostick.

Bad way to end practice. Bostick drops pass from Rodgers in end zone. Practice over after 2 hours and 3 minutes.

That's it for practice. One more to go tomorrow. And of course it's perfectly sunny now walking out of the Hutson Center
