Badgers clinched a winning Big Ten record for 13th-consecutive season tonight. Among BCS conferences, only Kansas (22) has longer streak.

Wow. And the sad thing is, no one will appreciate him until he's gone.

Not certain who "him" is. al doesn't let you know who he is cutting and pasting from, but I'm guessing he is talking about Bo Ryan. Hooray for al for being the first one, here in 2013, for getting on the Bo Ryan bandwagon. Hopefully the rest of us casuals (the "no one" he is speaking about) can eventually follow al's lead and learn to appreciate Bo. It is sad the rest of us morons can't learn to appreciate what Ryan has done, and will only realize it when he is gone.

Gophers defeat #1 Hoosiers, cementing their spot in the NCAA's. A few days ago, many commenters were insisting Tubby Smith should be fired. As is often the case, they have no idea how lucky they are to have a fine coach like him, and a solid top 25 program.

Gosh. It seems that all the college basketball fans, that live only inside Al's head, just don't appreciate their head coaches.
life coach lesson #1, create a winning argument against a population that doesn't exist. Insist you saw the forest through the trees first.

I'll try.

Remember when all the bloggers said Tom Brady wasn't skilled enough to play QB? Well I saw pretty quick the kid could play. If only he had better taste in women. Not that Grissel is hard to look at, but Old Country Buffet has two or three women who look better in hair nets.

Badgers 7th-straight 20-win season, the 2nd-longest streak in Big Ten (Ohio State has 8).--Badgers PR

We're living in the best of times, and most are too busy complaining to enjoy it.

you casuals are stupid. Follow al's lead and stop complaining.

Unless it is something that al wants to complain about, then complain, a lot.

Even if no one but al is still complaining about it, don't ever let it go.

Even if no one ever did complain about it, imagine that fictitious population and point out how you are smarter then them.

Still love Bobby Knight. Great coach, and possibly the best studio guy ever. Could barely hide his contempt when they'd get all gushy as some guy has an open court dunk, and he'd point out that he was 6-9 and averaged 3 rebounds a game.

Yes Al. I too remember all "those guys" that were 6-9 and averaged 3 rebounds a game that ESPN praised after dunks. I too loved it when Bobby White Knight pointed out his contempt for "those people".

Thank goodness we all have Al to help point these travesties out.

But, remember, he's not just negative all the time like some people.

Badgers with turnovers and cold shooting, but Purdue playing tough , like all Big Ten teams do every game. Hate to see it in Madison.

We always laugh when teams pack it in and let WI shoot uncontested 3's, but sometimes, they just don't go in. Those are tough games to win.

You can't look past anyone. Best conference, top to bottom, I've ever seen.

As I say often you always hear casuals pick on things like "grit" and "wanted it more" when a team isn't scoring. When you shoot poorly, other things are magnified. That said, you make a few shots, lots of those things go away and never occur.

There's a reason why scorers are top picks. Scoring is the one thing that separates a good player from a great one, and a mediocre one from a good one. It's also the one thing that comes and goes.

So is Al 'people' now?

Never apologize for being patriotic.

EDIT: Bucks shot 50% from the field and 46% from 3. Those that say you can't outshoot the other team...wrong.

there are literally millions of people right now walking around with egg on their face. All this time, they've been sticking their collective noses up in the air proudly proclaiming to the rest of us that you simply cannot, in the game of basketball, outshoot your opponent. Well now, elitist blogger old media casual fan, here is irrefutable proof it can be done.

For those that don't have to go grocery shopping before the storm hits, the Missouri Valley conference title game is on CBS prior to the Hoosiers/Wolverines. The MVC is underrated year in and year out, and other than the Big Ten and ACC, they play as good a quality of basketball as anyone. Every year in the NCAA's, they seem to get more teams in than you think they will, and they always perform nicely.

The MVC has gotten the only the automatic bid team in the tournament 4 out of the past 5 years, with only Wichita State getting an At Large Bid last year. So, 4 out of the past 5 years they've gotten the minimum number of teams in. Clearly, for those causals that think the MVC doesn't get an automatic bid - they got more in than you think they will.

The MVC's record the past 5 NCAA tournaments is 3-6. A winning percentage of 33%. Only casuals don't think that 33% equates to performing nicely. Also, both 5 seeds (WS in 12 and Drake in 09) lost their first game. Only casuals don't consider that performing nicely.

Al Bethke - Proving casuals wrong based on how he feels since 1991.

Not much to look forward to in the NCAA draw, WIS will be a #4 or a #5, and play a tough team, though one they will be favored against.

Hopefully, they will get to avoid a "hot" club or a team that seems like they end up losing too...a good team with a streaky shooter who hits everything...funny thing is, back when Steph Curry hit all those 3's, no one had ever heard of him.

I glanced at the #12/13 seeds earlier today, and there are a ton of mid major types that are far from automatic wins. In a one and done tournament, the tendency of this Badgers' team to have poor shooting nights will probably be what hurts them.

Few important things here;

A higher seed will be favored. Gonna pack that one away for my next important conversation.

We should be worried about "hot" teams. Not that they want it more, or have more grit, but a hot team we should be worried about. I'm guessing our odds are pretty good, cause probably half of the team in the NCAA tournament were really cold this year but the committee had some legacies in it.

Steph Curry was second team all mid major in SI as a freshman, and second team all American as a sophomore. To still be invisible was amazing.

Also, my insistence over the years that the 3 point shot is the future seems to be taking hold all around basketball. The Heat and the Spurs both were 3 focused, and even just mediocre 3 point shooters, like Chase Budinger, are signing for big money.

I never realized that Al was the visionary who foresaw the three-pointer becoming an important part of the game.  It's as if profundity and prescience spew out of his pores.
