He's the best I have ever seen at UW. He has incomparable big play ability. You get him the ball in the passing game and you're looking at an even bigger impact.

Having Clements to share the carries is a great advantage. Perfect compliment.

If they're going to make noise, though, it comes down to QB play of course, and if the young defense can playmake up front. Should be a good season, could be a great one...

Funny that the last guy, (Patterson) has the badgers as the most over rated Big ten team and yet has them winning the West.

Lots of talk about the WRs... Positives being thrown around.

The Badgers have a pretty favorable schedule so even with all the reloading and retooling of the roster I would think they will be in the mix in the West.   They will be tested right away with LSU but if they can get past those guys it's very possible they could run the table until later in the season.

I think the biggest thing is that we have to find a receiver with the consistency Abby had... we've seen some flashes from others, but just bursts.

 

I have read some good things too, but I don't want us just to rely on the Gordon-Clements show.  I also am not sure who the TE is going to be this year to show up.   There are lots of questions in the passing game right now, if Stave grows as he should, a few guys step up catching the ball, this could be a pretty fantastic year.

According to this, Stave isn't even the starter.  

 

Very interesting, although I think this is some gamesmanship from Andersen.  IMHO we'll see both of them against L$U. 

 

Hate to say it, but I think this could be a step-back year.  QB play is looking like it's going to be mediocre, the WRs are really young and almost the whole front 7 on defense is new/young.  Great RBs and a top-flight OL can only do so much.  

 

I know they almost certainly will lose Gordon after this year, but IMHO they're a year or so away from really cranking this thing up with GA's players.  

The JSO ran a piece today about Tanner McEvoy being the starter.  Apparently GA really values dual threat guys at the QB position and that's not Stave.   We'll see what happens.   McEvoy was a highly touted guy a few years ago and committed to the Cocks. 

I can also appreciate the concern about the defense but I think the Badgers have something special in Aranda as the DC.   They are really looking to upgrade speed and athleticism on D and in particular the DL and DBs are going to be intriguing.  They can't replace Borland but I am hearing good things about the LB group. 

To me the WR position must get better and that's the biggest question mark.  Doe needs to step up and not just be a poor mans David Gilreath.  Wheelwright is really talented but it's time to prove it on the field.   Jordan Frederick is a big target but again, it's time to make a leap forward.

One other thing-  their new kicker Rafael Gaglianone has wowed the coaches and fans with his strong leg and accuracy.  Hopefully this changes the mess they've had at placekicker the last few years

Stave misses a lot of targets- I think you get at leartvthat from Mac... and he can run.

The head coach made some very telling comments and didn't pull many punches when talking about the QB position.  Simply put, he said they left a number of routine big passing plays on the field last season.   That's not exactly a glowing endorsement of Stave.

GA had a very talented dual threat QB at Utah State (Keaton) and with this stable of backs there should be opportunities in the passing game but the QB has to make the plays.

Refreshing to hear Anderson admit that. Abbrederis would have had a monster season with a real QB, and they would have won a few more games.

McEvoy can run... Stave can't even move. With an unproven WR corps, the QB will be asked to do more... Extend plays, create , and take some of the pressure off the power run game. Stave isn't the guy . Hell, McEvoy may not be. But you have a chance...

For those following recruiting news the Badgers have a good OL class coming in next year.   They got a commitment from a 4 star OT out of Cali to go along with Dietzen from Seymour and a couple of other sold prospects. 

Also interesting to see the shift in recruiting areas.   GA and his staff are targeting CA and TX and not so much FL and NJ like they were doing in the past.
