Das Boot.

... [Against the Vikings] McCarthy and play-caller Tom Clements may have found something schematically to help Lacy. Of his 22 carries, 14 of them came with Rodgers in the pistol, and Lacy gained 74 of his 100 yards from that formation, according to ESPN Stats & Information.

The Packers used the pistol formation extensively late last season after Rodgers' calf injury limited his mobility but had largely gone away from it this year until Sunday.

In all, the Packers ran 26 plays from the pistol -- 20 of which were runs -- against the Vikings. Before Sunday, they had run just 52 plays from the pistol in the first nine games of the season combined. Unlike the shotgun, in which the running back is lined up next to the quarter, the pistol allows Lacy to play behind Rodgers and get a running start.

"I think it helps out our outside zone, it helps the stretch [plays] and stuff like that," Lacy said.

Bet we'll see more of these adjustments as the season goes down the stretch. MM has seen what he needed to see.

Good stat from : Mason Crosby is only kicker in history to make at least five 40+ yard FGs without a miss in a game.

This probably belongs in the game +/- thread, but I want to give Crosby some additional accolades.

The last few years, I would mostly hold my breath on his FG attempts. He could nail a 50+ yarder, then miss a 30-40 yard attempt. It could clear a goalpost by inches (good or bad), and I think he doinked a few off the posts, as well.

But this past Sunday, there was NEVER a doubt about his kicks. He kicked with authority and they were straight and true. It's his best kicking I can recall since he came to Green Bay.

Other than the one kick that mattered most...

He's been rock solid.

Mason was awesome in MN, really kicking with authority.

I thought it was his 2nd best game as a packer.

The best IMO was the championship game in Seattle, his great day was overshadowed by the loss but I don't know if I have ever seen a kicker have a better day than that.

Rain and wind in the loudest stadium in the NFL and Mason was 5 for 5 with a game tying 48yd field goal with 14 seconds left on the clock.

That was clutch kicking in a huge playoff game, Crosby is our guy.  Had he made the FG to beat the Lions I would have ordered a Crosby jersey

Wow, thanks Bartman.  You are correct.  That was truly a performance that gets overshadowed.

But, kicking the queen's ass with verve was epic.  I am proud of Bing.

Haven't seen the B***s much the past month or so. Sounds as if it might not be the same old Jay.

"Last year, you never saw him go for extra yardage," the scout said. "I believe he's a new man. He's not at all like what you've seen. He is at his best when you need him most. He is the absolute difference in their football team."

Two weeks ago, Cutler went to St. Louis as a seven-point underdog and demolished the Rams, 37-13. His rating of 151.0 was a career high.

"Cutler's been about as bad as you could be, and now he's really shown new life," said a veteran coach on defense for another team that played the Bears in November. "He doesn't look like a dead fish when he's on the sideline. He'll take off and run. We saw that in a couple games before ours.

"Gase has done a hell of a job there with Cutler. He's been playing pretty damn good lately. Obviously, we were worried because he had been playing so much better."

We'll see.
