This is a panic move it seems. I never thought for a second these two players were equal. Trading in the division makes this one an even bigger head scratcher.
So the Bucks must really but committed to the Giannis at PG thing. They have traded 2 PGs in the last couple months for scoring.

Not sure I would call it a panic move but it's an acknowledgment that they weren't comfortable with Vaughn or Brogdon at the 2 guard position. MCW has been an enigma - a lot of talent but very little consistency and dependability.

Yeah- similar "huh?" reaction to jettisoning Knight.
Should have just kept Knight to begin with. MCW is never going to develop enough of an outside shot to make a difference for the Bucks. They needed shooting even with Middleton.
Losing MCW will reduce their defensive options.
That's the part I'm really struggling with- MCW could be an elite defender. Now he's with a division rival... 
When has MCW ever been elite at anything?
He's a career 40% shooter. His 3pt % is like 25%. He's not a very good distributor and he turns the ball over a lot. He should get to the line a fair amount but when he does he's less than a 70% FT shooter.
He CAN be an effective defender but as we have seen I think his motivation is seriously lacking there as well.
In retrospect they should have kept Knight but lamenting about MCW is good stuff. He better be able to play D with Chitcago because God knows they already have a roster full of guys that can't hit shots consistently.
By the way- apparently Knight is on the trade block. Maybe Hammonds can get him back lol
No argument- he was a turnover machine and can't shoot. But on team as a lockdown defender I thought his size has great promise.
I feel about Snell the same way I felt about Middleton when they traded for him. Hope it works out as well.
I kind of think the Bucks just cut their losses. Trading for him was a mistake in the first place.
As to Knight, wasn't he going to cost too much money?
Pretty sure Knight got a max type deal with Phoenix. He's far from a perfect player but he knows how to score averaging close to 20PPG. Not sure why they want to dump him now.
It wasn't quite a max deal, and he has 4 years and about $55M left. And Phoenix has gotten nothing of value from the deal.
The part that sucked was they were winning. Then they weren't. The idea of the MCW trade wasn't wrong, IMO. It just didn't work out. I don't think Knight for the last 2 years makes the Bucks an EC contender.
Watching them tonight, seeing Parker take over in the 4th... this is what they'll win with.
That's the thing with Hammonds. He isn't afraid to take gambles and usually it seems to work out.
He drafts Joe Alexander who flames out but also drafted Giannis who was easily the best player in that draft with All Star capability. Larry Sanders is another classic Hammonds move as was Brandon Jennings.
He parlayed Jennings for both Middleton and Knight. Talk about a fleecing. We all know what happened with the Tobias Harris - deal ugh. Sometimes those trades work out and other times they don't.
I think Hammonds took a calculated risk with MCW much like he did with selecting Thon Maker. If they get it right the sky is the limit. The issue with Carter Williams isn't his athleticism or talent - he's a young guy and probably immature and isn't focused or motivated all the time. The Bucks took a swing and missed and it happens.
It's a shame that Middleton got hurt because you can see Parker and Giannis start to grow and despite that loss I think this will be a pretty good team.
