Bucky v UWGB

Still not shooting as well as I'd like to see, but they're grinding them down. Defense is fantastic, and Rebounding as well.

Trae Jax having one of those games- just doesn't have it. Dekker frustrates me. He is a really good post player, but not very good face up. I want to see him use that athleticism. And he looks great in moments. Just not as much as it think he should, I guess.

50% from the field, 37 from three.  

 

Only thing I am concerned about is that free throw percentage (and BK's shooting, but that is pretty far down the list of worries).  

But Kaminsky and Hayes with 20/10 double doubles. Both very impressive on both ends.

Sadly, the two best teams in college basketball probably play for Kentucky.  It's early, but jesus ****. 

I agree Pakrz - Kentucky is absolutely loaded. Check out this mock draft listing the top 50 players for next year's draft.

 

Dekker is #11 and Kaminsky is #21. The Badgers have two upperclassmen considered among the top 20 or so players in the country. To consider where the program was prior to Bennett and Ryan that's amazing.

 

However, Kentucky has the #3, 9, 20, 25, 27, and 32nd players on the list.

 

Duke has #1, 7, and 13.

 

Kansas has #4, 10, and 15.

 

I don't think Wisconsin will beat Kentucky if they ever meet up, mainly because Kentucky has returning players with experience to go with another one and done type class. However, Wisconsin is one of the few teams that can actually match up height wise. The lineup Bucky put out there last night with Jackson, Dekker, Hayes, Dujuan, and Kaminsky won't be overwhelmed by the 7 foot waves Kentucky can send out.

I agree. The odds of it happening are low because it's likely they'll both be at least #3 seeds or better (most likely better), so they won't meet until at least the Elite 8 or the Final 4. The strength and the weakness of March Madness is that someone can get hot and knockout a top team at any point in the tournament. The odds that both Wisconsin and Kentucky make it through that far aren't great.

 

My fear for Wisconsin is that we are set up to think that anything other than a Final 4 trip will be a failure. A 32-3 type season with a loss to another Sweet 16 team in which one player just goes off for about 35  (a la Steph Curry to beat the Big 10 champion and Sweet 16 Wisconsin team in 2007-2008 that went 31-5) will be seen as a huge letdown.  

Because it would be...

One game at a time for me.  I can't and won't worry about Kentucky because so much can happen between now and then.

Wisconsin isn't going to sneak up on anyone this year but I do think the emergence and development of Hayes could be what they need to put them over the top.  He was still learning the ropes last year but if he takes the next step look out.  He's a dynamic talent and tough matchup to defend.

Ethan Happ was in a suit and tie for this game correct?  Im out of the country for a bit... don't get to see them televised much.

Btw, Kentucky got super lucky against UW last year... and UW would have mopped the floor with UCONN.  Tough break last season, but I liken this to Duke losing to UNLV in the 90s then coming back the next year with the same team essentially on both sides and beating the Rebels.

 

Wisconsin will do this and slay UK.

Also, don't discount Koenig either.

 

This team is stacked.... Dekker looks to make a step forward too.  Just imagine if Kevon Looney didn't have his head in his ass and took the bag of cash to go to UCLA. 

They looked good against Kansas, but didn't they beat Buffalo by 18 as well..and were losing at the half I heard? 

 

I wasn't impressed by them last year either though.  They got super lucky to even be in the final 4..and I felt that the refs were bailing them out all tourney.

Well you can say what you want about them "getting lucky" but they had a good year and honestly the way UCONN was playing who knows if the Badgers would have beaten them.

They have all the pieces in place this year to make a deep run but that's not always a guarantee either.  Need to keep the eyes on the prize and remove distractions and hopefully they are in the mix in the end
