Brett Goode = tough guy. Played last 3 quarters with torn ACL.

Packers **ahem, cough** "Doctors" (re: coaches) IR him.

Thanks for frucking our season @jedyork Oh, I mean Packers brass

I'm sensing so much negativity for what should be an evenly fought game that it must be approaching positive.  History tells me this leads to a GBP victory - I'll take it.  GBP will win.

McGinn clearly admires Arians, but it's deserved.  He's got Palmer playing at a high level and knows how to run an attacking O.  Tons of play-action and deep shots.  Funny how Todd Haley had the same thing going for the Cards not too long ago with Warner and doing the same thing now with Ben R. in Pittsburgh.

This test will be as good as it gets for the Pack before the playoffs.  Time to see if the D really can shut down elite offenses and whether the O can rid itself of the overly stagnant periods, mistakes/drops, 3rd down conversions, and poor individual play.

This is the game at the start of the year I thought would be for the #1 seed.

I was rong....

As it turns out, it's for the #2 seed.

Should be a great game if the same Packers that played Seattle show up.

McCarthy says, "We're right where we need to be. The style points, you can flush that. I'm sick and tired of talking about the negativities. We've won 10 games. We lost three games on the last play of the game and Denver beat us. That's the overview of our season, and we've got a chance to win 11 next week."

Rodgers is short with his answers and nearly everyone is an expert at reading body language and they say he is pissed at McCarthy and the play calling

The chip is growing...

After beating SEA, and doubt they'd ever admit it, but I'd bet McCarthy, Rodgers, and others thought that as well.

I don't think Cam is anything like Vick or Kap. Cam has already proven to be a superior passer to either of them, although I wouldn't call him a consistently elite passer. He has limited his mistakes this year and took advantage of opportunities, that's why he's already better than Vick or Kap. I think he's a more mobile version of young Ben Roethlisberger...big stature, tough to bring down, not always a polished passer, etc. Current Ben R. is a much more polished passer, but early in his career he had some rough outings.

Yep, that's been my thinking also.

Green Bay - The following is a summary of Packers coach Mike McCarthy's pre-practice press conference Wednesday morning:

(On Bakhtiari) Today's practice is scaled way back. He'll participate in some of it. He's coming along, making progress.

(On Goode) No one was made aware of it until Monday. Once did testing found out.

(On new guy) You do the best you can in this time frame. Having Brett here makes you feel good about it. But the relationship between Mason, Brett and Tim is a strength. Rick will make an adjustment and we'll go along.

(On special teams) I think we've done a lot of good things. Full evaluations are for the off-season, but It thought we did some good things against Oakland. I think we're definitely starting to hit some of those (off-season) targets.

(On Abbrederis) The way the week goes will determine that (playing time) How it unfolds in the game is how we go about our process.

(On Tretter) He was banged up but he came out OK.

(On Adams and confidence) Well, I think anytime a group or a phase of your team is not what the expectations may be, you have to take a closer look at it. And Davante’s individual performance, I’m not going to get into detail on any player’s individual performance on the season at this point, but there’s some things that he can do better and he’s working on it. He obviously had the situation earlier in the season with the injury. But this is how these seasons go. These games aren’t played on paper. They ain’t played on draft reports and how opinions of people (are) and how we think they’re going to do. It’s something you have to go out and earn it every week and frankly this business is if you don’t do something well one week, you’re going to be challenged in that particularly area every single week until you change it. And we’re having some of that. To me, those are normal challenges of any NFL season whether it’s on offense, defense, special teams, receiver, defensive line, whatever.

(On importance of confidence) I think confidence and momentum – I’m stating the obvious in agreeing with your point – is a big part of winning. It’s a key element of winning. I don’t know in individual sports or team sports, it’d be pretty difficult to win at the professional level with a lack of confidence. I’m not saying there is a lack of confidence but real confidence is what’s important. False confidence will get you in a tough spot. That’s why you just keep working at it each and every day.

(On what sets Jared Abbrederis apart) Jared, very instinctive player. I think we all recognized that from Day 1. He has natural route-running instincts. For a young guy, he has a very in-tune time clock with the passing game, particularly with Aaron Rodgers. I think that speaks volumes for anybody that hasn’t played a lot of live action. I think his biggest asset is his instincts, his route-running and his ability to separate. He’s a fine young football player.

(On B.J. Raji’s use of yoga) Well, he’s definitely different today than he was three or four or five years ago. So that’s definitely part of it. I think there’s nutrition and the other aspect of it is part of it but, yes, I think B.J.’s clearly a different – I don’t want to say athlete but his conditioning is definitely different than it was four or five years ago.

(On weekly changes in offensive styles) Well I mean I think you have to look at the definition of different, you know. I mean is it, are we talking different personnel? I think the majority of our offense will be a similar personnel than we've been in the past. I mean they're different schemes. I think everybody around the league, I know we have always, you hang your hat on base concepts and things you can believe in. I think especially in the run game, there's things that we do very well there, that we need to stay true to, make sure we get the first down, get the attempts where you want them each and every week in the run game. And even more so in the passing game. Aaron Rodgers is at the point in his career where there's concepts that he can do in his sleep, so it's important to stay true to that but also protect those and give him the opportunity for adjustment at the line of scrimmage to take advantage of what he sees from the opposing defense. So, I hope that answers your question.

(On whether there is a clear-cut direction offensively) From my viewpoint, I know what direction we’re going each and every week with the football team and clearly now calling the offensive game plan.

(On Rodgers' psyche) I think you could say that there was a sense we didn't play as well as could have. You appreciate it, but you have to stay in tune with reality. We all understand the things that didn’t go right. But we do understand the things that did go right and that’s why we won the game. So, I think our players have a tremendous amount of pride. Obviously, Aaron is at definitely at the forefront of that being our quarterback and what he’s accomplished in the past. So, my understanding is he didn’t feel very good about the way the game went, but I think to a man we all kind of felt that way. The fact is winning is very difficult in this league. I’m never going to apologize for it. Everybody celebrates it differently. I think the staff even had kind of a hangover after coming in here late at night. You know, we’ve had some late, late nights because of the schedule and so forth and there has been a little bit of a hangover from that experience. I think you just look at the way some things have gone on the road to rain games and all these different combinations, I think that’s just part of a normal tough season. This is the toughest part of the season. The expectations around here are what they are. We all understand that. We’ve had a lot of success around here. It’s become the norm, but that’s why you have to be on top of … the bottom line is you have to win. Now, if you’re into style points, fine. I will just stay true to the video. That’s why you have to come in and take the emotion out of professional decisions and keep plowing forward. This is a tough gig, especially in December.

(On messaging) You sit up here and think about a weekly theme. It's really where you think your team is. This week's theme is take control. We have a great opportunity against an excellent football team. We have Christmas, we have different challenges. We're all about rhythm and flow. Our schedule has been different. I'm a huge believer it's going to make us stronger. This is a balanced football team. That's what I believe in.

(On Shields) He's making progress. He's in meetings. I don't know about practice.

Here's to hoping the kid can turn it around.

Thanks for posting.

The Cards have been good for a while, but I was not aware of just how many Vets they have added to their roster in the last couple of years. With an aging Palmer at QB, who was himself a free agent pickup a few seasons ago, Arizona really seems to be going all in when it comes to adding veteran talent.

McGinn references the following guys in his article, there may be more:

TE Jermaine Gresham, LT Jared Veldheer, LG Mike Iupati, RG Ted Larsen, RB Chris Johnson, DE Frostee Rucker, DT Red Bryant , DT Cory Redding  OLB Dwight Freeney, LB Sean Weatherspoon, RC Jerraud Powers, and SS D.J. Swearinger.

"These games aren’t played on paper."

Some fans need to read this sentence, multiple times.

The Cardinal WR I'm most worried about?? JJ Nelson

I see a big play coming from him

Arizona has not faced a better team all season as the Packers. Up and down, this team should worry the Cardinals. Rodgers is playing for the post season now. He's cranky, even ornery. Bad news for the Cardinals defense minus one of their best defenders.

"We're expecting to be on some silent count because theres going to be a lot of Green Bay fans here and it'll be loud." -- Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer on how the large contingent of Packers fans is impacting the Cardinals' game plan.

Well, it's probably too late.  I think most of the Packer fans already bought their tickets from Cardinal season ticket holders a while ago.   A friend of mine already had his for 3-4 weeks....or, maybe Palmer is pleading with the last remaining 10,000 season ticket holders who hadn't sold their tickets, yet.

Green Bay has been squatting on a master plan or they're just not very good. I honestly have no idea how this plays out. The next 24 days are going be fascinating.

I can't believe a 10 win team lost to ****ty Chicago and Detroit teams at home. Somethings at play here. Brilliant or horribly wrong. We're getting an answer within a month.

Yep.  Giants lost an NFC Wildcard game because of a bad snap--would have been a 41 yard FG.  (course they only signed the long snapper 4 days before the game....)

Ease up there on Trey Junkin. He played 18 years in the NFL and came up nails. The Giants rolled the dice on a 41 year old with no game experience for 1 year and he had a bad snap. That's on the Giants for not doing their homework. Not on Trey.

And don't forget NY **** all over a 38-14 lead in the second half of that game. And don't forget the holder on the botched snap threw a pass to a tight end the was tackled that should have been an untimed down pass interference penalty from the 1 setting up the equivalent of an extra point to win the game.

I have no idea why I'm arguing for either. I hate both teams. Just stating facts. Trey Junkin was a great long snapper for a long time. He's not the fall guy for that cluster **** of a game between two doosh bag franchises.

Next two are going to be very interesting from a coaching/strategy standpoint.

Arizona and Minnesota are clearly two teams that McCarthy, Capers, etc. could be facing in the post season. That being said, while the division is important, can't see either side divulging everything in these final two.

Flashback to 2009: Packers go into Arizona final week of season and clean their clocks. We all know how the next week played out.

Gotta assume mm took some lessons from that experience.

I've been waiting for this game all season long. I hope the Packers don't disappoint by playing poorly. I'm fairly certain AZ will play well.

This game is for the #2 seed. I'd expect both teams to play like it's a playoff game.

The Cardinals don't want to come to Lambeau in January. I expect some unscouted looks from AZ & GB too.
