Well, there's here when you first responded to me when I said K's weren't worse than any other out.

Did I mention it sickens me.

And, then there was another direct response to me about K's not being worse

And here you're trying to say something?  I don't know exactly, I asked my meth addled neighbor and they couldn't decipher this word salad either.

Then in response to my reaction to "wait, someone thinks it's better to hit a fly ball instead of a K with two outs" you wrote this.

A sacrafice fly that scores a run, or a hit that advances a runner.  In these senario by the shere fact that a runner advances proves that making contact is 100% better than striking out.  The only possible way phadreus could be wrong would be if something worse than an out could happen by making contact.  That simply does not exist.

Runner on 3rd, less than 2 outs. Batter hits a fly ball out, runner tries to score from 3rd, thrown out at the plate.  It would most certainly would have been better if the batter had struck out since the runner would most likely still be on 3rd.

It dawned on me that I forgot about grounders sometimes leading to double plays and so I am more than willing to consider a ground out to be worse than the strikeout which would be the case if double plays occur more than runners advancing.

But, anyway, I think you are being silly CA.

If a guy is on 3rd and there is less than 2 outs, a ground out is more likely to result in a run scored than is a strikeout.  Same thing with a runner on 1st or second (not scoring, but advancing), which was my whole point.

Good for Wil Smith.  good to see that team did not get in his head.

Hop in the way back machine.  gomez triples to lead off the inning.  Runnin Ron puts the contact play on.  Braun comes up to bat and lines it to third.  Easy throw to the plate and even the speedy Gomez is out by two steps.  Instead of one out and a runner at third, you have one out and a runner on first.

Side note: coaches tried for years to make Gomez a contact hitter.  Once that expectation was removed and he didn't have to worry about his job if he struck out, he became an MVP candidate.

Outs Are bad.  Avoid all of them at all costs.  Especially avoid double plays.  Unless you are playing Babe Ruth baseball, don't choke up with two strikes and just "try to make contact."  And if you are a professional baseball player, don't worry about getting strike outs, worry about getting out.  They all suck.
