Let me first say, I don't want an in-house hire.  This defense needs a completely different philosophy from top to bottom.  That said, I think of all the possibilities of an in-house guy, Whitt would be my choice too.  I listen to all of the weekly positional coach pressers and Whitt seems to have a confident nature and no nonsense approach. He also seems like a natural teacher.  

Nothing against Whitt because I don’t know much of anything about him, but methinks If your going to promote a guy who’s never been a DC before, you find a guy who’s coached on a defense that hasn’t sucked for the last several years. 

I’d prefer a guy who’s had success as a DC before....maybe a guy who failed as a head coach but is a proven DC.  A Schwartz type. 

Who do we think he's talking about? Marty Bennett is an obvious one. I could see Clay and Perry being guys just cashing checks. Clay plays high effort, but he's not a leader type...honestly he's not even a lead-by-example type anymore either. Burnett is not a rah rah guy either, but I've read other quotes from him saying he believes the lockerroom is tight and supposedly he's a team leader. Randall seems like a guy chasing accolades. Maybe our two new rookie DB's didn't come in with the right attitude?

I get the sense the rest of the guys on that D like Lowry, Clark, Daniels, Martinez, House, etc. and a lot of guys on offense like Rodgers, Adams, Jordy, Cobb, Bakh, etc. are invested in the team and the lockerroom. Perhaps if you are pointing the finger and can't identify the specific person that is the problem then maybe YOU are the problem?

That's not a glowing review of happenings at 1265. 

HHCD probably should do some introspection before  pointing fingers at others given his performance the past year including quitting in the finale against the Lions.

I think he's saying explicitly that they should have re-signed Hayward and Hyde. Gambling on two rookie CBs (Randall and Rollins) to replace veterans like House and Hayward was a major mistake. And then to let another CB in Hyde go shortly after really defeats the draft and develop method...draft, develop for 4 years, discard and start over. 

I can't put a lot of stock in anything HaHa says - he's been part of the problem this past season.  He should shut up and lead by example.

While what he says may all be true, he can't really be the one to deliver it considering his play this year easily fits into several of those categories.  Maybe it's tough leaving it all on the field when your teammates are not but then you have to shut your mouth.

Ha Ha just does not seem very bright. 

He should be cut.

Why can't it be both...Ha Ha is not a leader and other guys are not all in?  Dom and his merry band of coaches are not getting to their players who as a whole are not good enough. 

Blaming the messenger even tho the message may be on point is a waste of time.

Bottom line, the Packers need better coaches to coach better players.

I trust the powers that be will attend to this matter ASAP.

This sounds like a guy who wants out of GB and is doing what he can to make that happen, short of hurting his market value.

No he shouldn't be cut.

What should happen is he should be forced to play in the new defense. 

If/when he doesn't perform he gets benched. Then he can pout. Then he can do 1 of 2 things...

1. Start focusing on playing football like he did in 2016
2. Get suspended for "violating team rules"

HaHa, meet mirror. Definitely sounds like he's part of the problem. A leader doesn't trash others in the media; he does it to their face and challenges them to do better. It sounds like HaHa could use someone in his face and challenging him.

Oh hey, I didn't say that I didn't like hearing that stuff, just that if I were the coach I wouldn't want my players trashing each other to the media. If you can't say it to the player's face, don't say it at all.

While I appreciate HHCD's candor, if he doesn't put himself first when answering questions about individual and team performance, it smacks as insincere. 

It's hard to imagine a guy like Daniels, much less a certain senior linebacker, not being in charge of a locker room. Even if he's not considered a  "leader", Daniels should be an "enforcer". I can't see someone like him letting other guys slack off while he takes a beating up front.

Candor works when you are a good player. Clinton-Dix played like a pussy this year. His words make him look foolish after watching him play like a scared little girl all season.

Randall wasn't the only one that was running away from contact this year.

I’m okay with the change, but still interesting stats. 

Randall was one of their better defensive players the second half of the season.  Clinton-Dix played like **** all year and he's the last person to run his mouth.  

At least Randall learned something and overcame his meltdown. HHCD was in melt mode all year.

Randall can shut his mouth too.  Saying he was one of the better defensive players in the second half of the season is like a Bear's fan saying Rex Grossman was one of the better quarterbacks the Bears have had in the last three decades.

From an outsider, Blake Martinez seems to have the skills to shine as an outside 'backer in a 4-3. 

We were looking at previous #14 picks.

If the Packers select someone like Aaron Donald - Then 4-3.

Clark, Daniels & a player like Donald would do a fine job on the Viking O-Line With Perry & Clay coming off the edge.

Defense is all multiples now anyway. All across the league. There really isn't a "by the book" 3-4 or 4-3.

Hell Capers defense has been running Nickle so long I forgot what a real defense looks like.

By most accounts Randall had a decent year after the Bears game.  He's always going to play with an edge and attitude and as long as he can back it up who cares?  Given how they whiffed on Rollins and House isn't really a long term option we need 23 to step up and play well as one of the top 3 corners. 

As for 21, I have no clue why he regressed so badly this season.  He should STFU and play better. It's as simple as that.

I haven't researched, but my seat o'-the-pants feeling is the majority of those numbers had to occur earlier in his tenure, certainly not over the last 2-3 years.
It's scary (depressing?) to think what coulda been had we had defenses closer to the 2010 version as opposed to the 2015 defenses....

Is MM questioning why Randall didn't play in last two games?
