The nickname, Gennett told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel this spring, was given when he was the age of 5. His mother, Tina, took him to the police station for a lecture when he didn’t wear his seat belt.

Gennett, a quick-thinker even then, said: β€œI thought I was going to be arrested. So, I told the policeman my name was Scooter. After we left there, I didn’t answer to Ryan because I thought if I answered to my real name I’d get arrested.”

So he has been Scooter ever since.

And now, the Hall of Fame has a Scooter too.

They had Villar have a career year last season and were prepared to give him an extension (which he declined) this winter.

The regression of Villar wasnt expected.  Gennett is a nice backup, but I'm not sure he qualifies as someone you want starting every day.  That being said.. Stearns has rarely missed so far on trades/scouting decisions.  For example see the Thornburg trade.

MLB draft is Monday:  Baseball America released 4.0 mock a few hours ago.. here is there comment (i laughed hard) and like the pick.  Swing for the fences Brewers early in the draft Brewers.. i like it.

All of your toolsy outfielders belong to us.
Pick: Jordon Adell, of, Ballard HS, Louisville
