Packers cornerbacks coach Joe Whitt says "You haven't really seen the real Kevin King" because of the rookie cornerback's shoulder injury. "With him not being able to throw that arm, once he'll be able to control people at the line of scrimmage, once he gets that taken care of you're going to see a player that you'll be really excited about," Whitt said. "But you haven't seen that yet."

It came out 9-10 times during the season? Ow. Ya, this kid is a tough SOB:

King said the surgery will be to repair his labrum, the same surgery he had in college. He estimated that his shoulder popped out of place "nine or 10 times" this season.

"It was something that was happening more frequently than not," King said. "me. So, yea It came out, especially these last few games, it probably came out probably each game, it came to a point where they kind of just shut me down. It was hard because especially with something that I was trying to fight through, but in the end it got to the point where it was probably better to get it done."

The Packers drafted King because of his size (6-foot-3), speed (4.43 in the 40) and arm length (32). They saw how the first two attributes could help him but never really got the chance to see how his long arms would help him jam receivers at the line of scrimmage, something Whitt loves in his corners when they're playing press-man coverage.

"I know what he can be, but with him not being able to throw that arm -- he has a chance to be a really, really good player," Whitt said. "Once he'll be able to throw and control people at the line of scrimmage the way that his length and his ability to be able to bend and move and do those types of things, once he gets that taken care of, you're going to see a player that you'll be really excited about. But you haven't seen it yet."

If it's a groin like Randall had a while back, he's not going to see the field again for a while.  Can't flip or open your hips which is pretty much required to play the position.

House's biggest liability is his lack of speed.  This was also the one issue with Jackson coming out of college.  I don't think you want to see Jackson M2M deep down the sideline.  That's the tough thing about Theilen and Diggs.  You need a slot guy to cover their short/sharp routes and a boundary guy to cover their deep routes.  King can do that.  When he's not hurt.

Yup, he's shown good technique , solid speed and has really nice length for the position. Has he made mistakes, sure, but he's still wet behind the ears. Hopefully his injuries are put behind him and he's not one of those guys that is good but just cant stay healthy.

Not saying this is the case with KK, but always wonder about a guys mind set when it comes to injuries. I played in college where you saw this , even in high school ....you had guys that just would not play if they had even the slightest injury.

Sprained Vagina? With MM out the door, I really hope this medical staff is re-evaluated as well. The Packers are notoriously conservative with injuries. It's gotten very old.

I think this is more about the teams record than any "minor setback". Any player that isn't a go for the upcoming game (and expected the be a starter in 2019) might as well go to IR.

I'm thinking if Chris Gizzi can keep this kid healthy, we might be onto something.

Kevin King played in 42 games in his Washington career. King is great in run support, he's got insane ball skills, hits like a ton, and he is a perfect fit for Pettine's switching D. He's got experience at Safety, at Nickel and at shut down CB from his days at Washington, where he allowed just 1 TD in 101 targets.

Hell, we are in either Nickel or Dime close to 60% of the time anyway. That versatility could work in the Packers favor. This dude covering the slot, with that wingspan at 6-3 200 4.43 and the fastest 3-cone (6.56), 20 and 60 yd. shuttles in his 2017 draft class? He batted balls all over the place working Nickel in 2015.

Kind of a rough start being drafted injured in 2017, then had the proverbial groin and hammy injuries that plagued nearly every Mike McCarthy coached team for how many years? How many years were we the most injured team in the NFL?

Man, if he can get healthy and stay healthy... could be insanely cool. I wouldn't put it past Chris Gizzi to pull it off. Imagine what having King for a full season and playoff run would mean to this team.
