I've not had a good feeling about many games so far this year, but for some reason, I think this might be a breakout game for the Packers.  As others have mentioned, the best way to help out a hurting secondary is up front with a solid pass rush and I think the front seven will establish that.  I am also hoping that a return to the scene of perhaps one of Rodgers' best games - 2011 playoff vs Atlanta - helps him get his Mojo back.  Will we finally see the return of Jordy Nelson?  31-24 Pack.

coach Mike McCarthy says they'll use practice to evaluate how RB Don Jackson can handle football with hand injury.

McCarthy on new RB Knile Davis: "He's part of the game plan... I like what he brings to the table. He's a natural football player."

McCarthy says will focus more on what Julio Jones has done this season than what he did in Lambeau in 2014. Too many differences.

McCarthy on increased injuries from other seasons: "Well, this is our seventh game, and it seems like more."

McCarthy on keeping Rodgers in a groove: "Getting into a rhythm for the quarterback is something you want to try to establish every week."

McCarthy on quick throws with QB Aaron Rodgers: "We always want to have a good, healthy rhythm as far as getting the ball out."

McCarthy making good point on how haven't had to handle crowd noise since Week 2 in Minnesota. Another dome Sunday. Big change.

Falcons QB Matt Ryan on WR Julio Jones: "He's been exceptional. He's one of the best players in the NFL."

Naturally, Ryan targets Jones a lot. But? "He's incredibly unselfish, too. He'll draw double teams and open up things for other guys."

Ryan not viewing pass defense as vulnerable: "They've got an excellent front 7, and they do a great job of creating pass rush."

Falcons coach Dan Quinn on QB Aaron Rodgers: "Every time going against him, it's been as hard as you can imagine."

Quinn disagrees Rodgers struggles: "To me, I feel whoever has had those comments or spoke of it, maybe didn't go as in depth as you could."

Seahawks cut running back C.J. Spiller

The Seahawks are confident their running game is going to improve soon.

And they must think they don’t need running back C.J. Spiller to achieve that goal.

According to Field Yates of ESPN, the Seahawks released the veteran running back.

Spiller played in two games for the Seahawks, but was a healthy scratch for Sunday’s tie with the Cardinals. The team elected to use C.J. Prosise as their third-down back behind Christine Michael.

And with Thomas Rawls getting closer to health, the Seahawks apparently decided they didn’t need him to provide a boost for one of the league’s worst rushing games

It's very hard to judge players that get drafted by crappy organizations.  Spiller goes to New England or Pittsburgh and maybe he's a hall of famer.  Instead, he goes to the Bills and his career goes no where.  I think about this for every Browns first round pick.

Imagine what Joe Thomas could have done elsewhere.

Are you saying that because the Browns have drafted a single hall of fame player in their 18 year existence that it's unfathomable for a first rounder to underachieve on the Browns?

Food for thought:

Calvin Johnson regularly owned GB's secondary and put up All-Pro numbers against the Packers and NFC north. His team also lost on a regular basis and had a QB at least comparable to Matty Ice.

Fan's obsessing over whether Julio Jones gets XXX yards against Gunter or whomever will be covering him are missing the larger point. If Jones racks up 200 yards receiving and they lose, who gives a ****.

100%. If you don't win then inflated stats mean nothing. Matt Stafford has great stats over his career, maybe too many INTs, but a lot of yards and TDs. He doesn't win though, he's 46-56 in his career. Of QBs with over 100 career starts, Aaron Rodgers (.659) is only behind Tom Brady (.767) and Ben Roethlisberger (.667) in terms of winning percentage.

DL coach Mike Trgovac said MIke Pennel "came back in really good shape" after suspension. Should be no limitations on snap count.

Bennett on Ty Montgomery: "You can't really say he's a RB, he's a WR. He's just a versatile football player. ... He's a matchup nightmare."

OC Edgar Bennett says he's excited about RB Knile Davis' progress. Will be interesting to see how much he plays in Atlanta.

ST coordinator Ron Zook says Geronimo Allison "can do a lot of the same things" as Jeff Janis on STs, perhaps gunner on punt cover.

need Clay Matthews vs ATL, and he's hopeful to play. But they're also "being smart and cautious" this week.

LB coach Winston Moss on Falcons pass game: "I think it's very important to establish some type of way to get him uncomfortable."

Moss explains difference in OLB Nick Perry this season: "Everything has sort of fallen into place with Nick."

They came here after I moved up here. (I did feel a bit bad for them after Norm Green moved the team away similar to the Colts getting kidnapped to Indy)

I didn't get into pro hockey until after I moved here and it's been a lot of fun!  It was a roommate and he was into the Red Wings.  Good times watching them back in the early 90s (as you noted earlier).

Besides, who the hell else would I root for, the Blackhawks??

And technically, it's St. Paul.  Not the douchebags from Minny.  Also they have some Badger hockey love on the club and a few other players with ties to playing in WI.  Good 'nuff for me.
