James Garner, star of 1970s detective series The Rockford Files, dies at 86

If you've got a Me-TV affiliate on one of the digital subchannels in your area, they run The Rockford Files on a regular basis, but he was also a fine movie actor:

James Garner delivers a withering critique on Europeans to Julie Andrews in The Americanization of Emily

Doris Day isn't my favorite actress, but she and James Garner made a couple of movies together: The Thrill of It All and Move Over, Darling.  Personally, I prefer Garner in the comic western Support Your Local Sheriff!

Another World War II movie starring Garner is 36 Hours, in which he's kidnapped by the Nazis to try to get him to reveal the plans for the D-Day invasion.  It's a bit far-fetched, but excellent.

I don't think TCM have announced a change to their programming to honor Garner with several of his films.
