hmmm, gotta find that place and make me another drinking buddy. 

actually, it does look pretty minimialist.  Sure there is a flat screen TV, and nice finishings, but it doesn't look like it's loaded down with all sorts of toys.  Super cool, and after reading about this, the first thing that came to mind, was Rocky.  JJ Watt is awesome!

Well I don't blame him for getting a nice cabin out in the woods......but would have loved to see video of him training Rocky IV style.

Middle of Sconnie is not the Northwoods. Rookie reporter. There's a lot of folks who wish they lived in such minimalist surroundings... 

Compared to just about every where else in ths US, that's north.

Whenever I am smokin meat on the grill, I always tell my wife it is because of my Southern roots. I am from Door County.

I don't know the technical definition but I would say Northwoods is anything north of Hwy 64.  Some might argue US8.

That depends upon if you are south of 8. 

Unless Watt purchased that cabin last summer, those pictures are likely from the realtor or MLS listing showing the prior owners' possessions (Favre & Ron Dayne jersies, Clay Matthews picture).

 

Also, this cabin is rumored to be in Summit, Wisconsin, in Waukesha county west of Pewaukee.  Most Wisconsinites would not consider that "Up North", although I did once meet someone from Milwaukee who thought Sheboygan was waaaaaaaay up north.

Tschmack most correctly defined Wisconsin northwoods for me.

And since you mentioned Sheboygan, I still laugh when I remember my Sheboygan girlfriend's parents thinking Shawano was way "up north".  all depends I guess.

Waukesha County is not "up nort" and it's certainly not the northwoods.  I will admit there are some very nice vacation areas in SE WI and places like Green Lake but it's still not "up nort"

I used the term nort' based on the middle of nowhere comment from Watt himself. The article did not state where exactly the cabin was/is. Seems a few folks are a bit touchy about where exactly the northwoods are. 

Up nort' is nort' of Hwy 8. It says Nort'woods on the map. But if you really want up nort', then I say Hwy 2 is the dividing line. 

West of Pewaukee = "northwoods"

 

If Da Yoopers didn't sing about said location, it's probably not in the northwoods.

Maybe the Ottawa or Superior National Forests define the north woods?
