Due to where I live, I saw Guion play in Minnie. He was terrible there, and I was disappointed/couldn't figure out why TT signed him -- he was awful in MN -- they let him walk despite needing some DL help. In GB he was awful to start, then had a couple excellent games, and was capable at the end. Was it the injury to start, then off weed, then on? Injury all the way? Is this is after-season weed blowout? Wish these guys would just own up and tell us. What's done is done, and honesty would go a long way.

They can't 'just own up and tell us' for obvious reasons.  If it were legal as it should be both in a criminal sense and in terms of its misplacement on banned substances in the NFL, we'd know more as there'd be nothing to hide.

If my daughter ever suffers from pain for some reason, I'd easily be more amenable to her smoking a joint than swallowing those awful, poisonous and addictive prescription pills.

an update on his quest to get his money back.  I can see the drool from the police dept from here.  200 large plus a 60 large truck...  mmmmm, drool, donuts.

JMHO, I hate the concept of asset forfeiture.  the truck and money aren't illegal.  the gun is sorta illegal only because of where he was and where the gun is licensed.  the pot is illegal (even tho it shouldn't be) - there's your crime, deal solely with it.  if everything in his possession is an accessory to the crime why didn't they take his clothes as well?  got any gold fillings?  ridiculous. JMHO as it applies to this case.  drug cartel houses are a whole 'nother story.

@RobDemovsky: One interesting note from side session with McCarthy. Said Letroy Guion is back in Green Bay and they've talked a couple times since arrest.

@ByRyanWood: Mike McCarthy said Letroy Guion is back in Green Bay. He hopes to get "green light" to negotiate deal. "I'd love to have Letroy Guion back."

I think NFL front offices and coaches have come to realistically expect to have maryjane issues with some players and, just as the perception of MJ is finally being reversed in society, it's no longer a death sentence in the NFL.  I'm sure coaches overhear plenty of conversations during the season about MJ that would cause goodumbell to shart his drawers.  I recently read about ultramarathon long distance runners that utilize MJ to deal with the the effects of their races:

Green Bay Packers defensive tackle Letroy Guion has agreed to a deferred prosecution agreement, which will result in probation, stemming from his arrest for felony marijuana and firearm possession last month, according to a source familiar with the case.

The deferred prosecution agreement will be signed in the next couple of weeks, the source said.

Guion will avoid serving any jail time but still could face discipline from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell under the league's personal conduct policy...

A Florida court ruled last month that police had probable cause to seize Guion's cash and vehicle. Guion will have to win a civil case against the state of Florida for the return of his property...

Mike McCarthy has indicated that the team was still open to bringing back Guion, who started every game last season...

Probably cause checklist in Starke:

1. Is he darker than George Zimmerman? If yes, go to #2. If no, pause momentarily. Does he seem likely to have a good lawyer? If no, go to #2.

2. Is there a chance he has anything of value? If yes, go to #3. If no, go to #4.

3. Prepare duffels and cameras for loot.

4. Make the stop, probable cause.

Same punishment Ray Rice got.  Since Rice only got two games from Goodell, and Guion didn't commit any violence, Guion deserves less.

Not that that's going to happen, of course.  The shrieking that went on after the Rice case is going to lead to people like Guion getting more.

Guion update.

Letroy Guion's criminal case was closed on Tuesday, and the Green Bay Packers free-agent defensive tackle is now free to continue his NFL career.

Guion will not be prosecuted, and there will be no criminal record stemming from his Feb. 3 arrest in his hometown of Starke, Florida, according to a source familiar with the case.

"It’s over," the source said.

Guion was pulled over for erratic driving and police found 357 grams of marijuana and an unloaded gun (which was registered to Guion in Minnesota) in his 2015 Dodge Ram truck. Police seized the truck and $190,028.81 in cash that Guion said was from his Packers paychecks.

A spokesman for the Starke, Florida, police department confirmed Guion reached a plea deal Tuesday that included a $5,000 fine plus court costs, and as a first-time offender the charges were dismissed without adjudication of guilt.

"Hopefully he learned from his mistake and can continue his NFL career," captain Barry K. Warren, public information officer for the Starke, Florida, police department, told ESPN.com Tuesday.

The Bradford County (Fla.) Clerk of Courts said it did not have the finalized record of Tuesday's proceedings yet.

The civil forfeiture case, in which Guion is attempting to get back his vehicle and cash, is still pending...
