Packers' Letroy Guion has faced drug, gun, domestic violence charges

Pretty good investigative piece from the JSO where they dig deep into what turns out to be the rather checkered past of Guion.

The swirl of legal issues surrounding Guion raises questions about the thoroughness of the character review by the Packers and whether the team and the NFL missed or ignored a deeper record of run-ins with the law.

Unfortunately, the piece really doesn't offer anything to help answer those questions.

If he hit his ex-GF (daughter's mother), then he is a POS.

That said, reading the reports in the links (quoted below), I could easily see a money grab scenario here from his ex-GF and her new BF.

Before the drug and gun counts, Guion had been charged in criminal cases three times. This includes a stalking charge and pair of domestic violence incidents that resulted in three counts of battery, including one where Guion was charged with hitting the mother of his child in the jaw.

The charges were dropped in two of the criminal cases. Guion paid restitution in the third and avoided additional punishment.

What I don't get is if the domestic violence stuff was so cut and dry, why wasn't he brought to trial?  Isn't that the story?  Is it the Hooterville-like atmosphere in Starke especially with the police department?  Is domestic violence tolerated in Starke?  I agree with H5, if he hit his ex-GF, then he is a turd.  The problem is, I don't know what to believe.  I don't understand the context.

Who said the DV case was "cut and dry"?  Based on the cited article, it looks like it was anything but.  Looks like a 3-way altercation with the ex and her new boyfriend.  Who knows what actually happened.  Plus it did go to court and settled with adjudication withheld.  Letroy made it through the probationary period, then the case is dismissed. That was the deal, and he upheld his end.  Kind of run-of-the-mill misdemeanor stuff there.  It's not OJ or Ray Rice.

The pot case was potentially a much bigger deal.  He definitely got a huge break there.  And so far it looks like the near miss may have scared him straight.

I think MM nailed it.  This is old dirt and it is stale.

That was a separate incident and she was charged in that one.

My problem with Letroy isn't that he likes to kick back and blaze one up.  I think people should be able to do that if they want.  (Shows poor judgement though when it could cost you Millions)   My problem with Letroy is that he is a dealer.

Recreational users don't purchase 3/4 of a pound at a time.   That's equivalent to 128 cases of beer.

My math

1/8th oz is a equivalent to a case of beer (Nickle Bag).   You could split it with a friend in one night and be torn up.  If it's crappy Mexican brick, maybe you up that to a 1/4 oz but I doubt Letroy is into the Mexican brown brick.

3/4ths pound has 128 nickle bags.

Have you ever considered purchasing 128 cases of beer?

Letroy isn't a casual user.   Our boy is a distributor.  As it said in the article, the Police suspect that he is bank rolling and distributing and not just weed.  Our buddy Letroy is not a good guy.

I agree in Principal.   I'm for legal recreational usage..  But there is a difference in the mindset of a person who is willing to break the law when it only impacts themselves than there is someone who is willing to contribute to others breaking the law.

Throw in the fact the police think he is bank rolling or dealing blow / crack as well, not a good guy.
