I forgot a lot about the loss in Detroit until I went back and looked just now.

The Lacy fumble on the Packers first series returned for a TD.

The safety after the telegraphed running play after GB picked off Stafford at the 1 (which should have been a touchback).

The Packers offense was lackluster, but it wasn't completely inept. Besides the two series that ended in the fumble return and the safety, the Packers had only one three and out in the other 7 series. They had drives of the following:

9 plays (TD)

9 plays (reach the Lions 37 only to get a false start and a sack resulting in a punt)

9 plays (reach the Lions 16 only to lose yards on a Lacy pitch play and then lose on downs)

8 plays (reach midfield only to lose yards on a Harris pitch play)

5 plays (had a 2nd and 3 at the GB 42 and lost yards on a Lacy run)

5 plays (reach GB 37 -drive ends in a sack)

The biggest problem was that the Packers only had the ball 3 times in the second half (22 plays). The Lions had drives of 14, 12, and 10 plays in the second half.

The Packers essentially handed them 9 points on a platter and ended up getting drives stalled by losing 3-4 yards on pitch plays and one drive on a false start.

I feel better about our chances on Sunday after having looked at the play by play.

I don't envy Caldwell - on the one hand he wants to stick up for his guys and not throw a player under the bus, on the other hand he's condoning an action that could end a guy's livelihood.  However, he's a players coach.  His first quarter benching of Joique Bell for violating team rules (who played the remaining 3 quarters) isn't exactly a severe punishment.  It will bite him in the end.

Marshall came under fire last November for calling Detroit "the little brother that kind of grew up a little bit." On Monday, Marshall claimed those remarks came as the result of a pregame incident in which Raiola made light of the receiver's battles with mental illness

Marshall was diagnosed in 2011 with borderline personality disorder.

"See, a lot of people [ask], 'Why do you call Detroit [Chicago's] little brother?'" Marshall explained. "I apologize again, Detroit. I retract that statement. But I was really mad at him because in the game, I'm just warming up. I'm just standing there. He's like, 'Go take your medicine. Go do this you freaking weirdo, you freaking crazy guy. Go take your medicine.'

"Before the game. ... Like, bro, we play football and I understand we're rivals. But at the end of the day, this is a brotherhood. We're all men here. This is only a platform for us to be better. You're sitting here being defined by this sport. It's terrible."

Marshall thinks Raiola should be banned from the NFL.

"It should not be allowed. It's ridiculous," Marshall said. "He shouldn't be allowed in the NFL. He should be banned from the NFL."

You mean Raiola or Caldwell? I don't get the sense Caldwell is a douche in the same vein as Schwartz. I think Raiola would probably pull this crap regardless of who the coach was, he's just a scumbag human being. At least Caldwell has kept his guys from being menaces to society, gotta give the guy credit for that much.

All we heard earlier in the season was Caldwell would not put up with the crap the Lions did under Schwartz. What has changed? They still a lot of personal foul penalties, late or near late hits and now this with Raiola. Again, what has changed on the field?  Nothing. I don't understand how you can stick up for Caldwell.

Think things have changed in Detoilet? Ya, not so much:

It also calls into question where the Lions sit with discipline right now. Lions coach Jim Caldwell has been fairly strong on disciplining his players so far this season, having suspended Brandon Pettigrew for a quarter against Tampa Bay for a violation of team rules and suspending Joique Bell for the first quarter of Sunday’s game against Chicago for a violation of team rules.

He also sent C.J. Mosley home from London and suspended him for two weeks for a violation of team rules.

Those were off-field issues, though, and they are something Caldwell talks about with his team constantly.

"Every week," Caldwell said. "It’s kind of where the high cost for low living comes in, so you cover the gamut and you’ve got to keep it before them."

Now, Caldwell can use Raiola’s actions as another teaching point -- to play cleaner on the field. This was even an issue for Detroit on Sunday beyond Raiola’s stomp.

Defensive end Ezekiel Ansah was flagged for unnecessary roughness when he made contact with the head of Chicago quarterback Jimmy Clausen. Clausen was found to have a concussion after the game, likely stemming from Ansah’s illegal hit, and already has been ruled out for the Bears' finale against Minnesota.

Mike McCarthy: Big Week 17 game is 'exactly how you want to go into the playoffs'

Green Bay --- Running highlights from Mike McCarthy at his Monday news conference...

On the schedule... Coaches were in gameplan meetings all day. Players had regen workout and a team meeting. ...Players and coaches off on Christmas Thursday and then back to our normal schedule Friday.

On watching film... Haven't watched the Tampa Bay game yet personally.

On plan with Rodgers... He's sore. Tomorrow's practice will be similar to one coming off of Monday Night Football. He told me he wants to work. Haven't talked to the medical staff about the injury. He was upbeat and positive about it.

On preparing for rematch after such long break vs Detroit... Been a different year. New staff. Play them early. A lot of things change; really just it's more film study. We've always worked ahead as a staff with preliminary game-planning. Important for us to spend more time on them than you would have during a normal 7-day week. We have played a lot of common opponents, so that's part of the cut-ups.  So you are seeing them play through the course of the year.

On how offense has evolved... Everybody's offense is different today than it was in September. In the dome, we didn't run it as well as we'd like. Played uphill a bunch on third down. The turnover that we had there for 7 points and the safety too, it clearly wasn't a good day for us.

On using last year's finale to help here... Haven't thought about it. So many different components, everything leading up to the game was different. Aaron coming back. That being said, there's always carryover with your past experiences. Don't know how much it'll help us win the game, but it's something we can draw from.

On having something to play for this week... It's a great thing. This is how you want to go into it. If you look at past experiences, sitting a bunch of players, they're so different than last 4 games before that. The fact that we're playing a playoff-type game is exactly how you want to go into the playoffs. I know that's the way I'd prefer.

On Eddie Lacy's health... Every indication, he's fine. You know Eddie, jumping, smiling. One of his best workouts of the year. I have no concerns with Eddie.

On difference lately with Lacy.... The playcaller is giving him the damn ball. Eddie has been playing very well for a long time, 2 months. Sometimes, you people get caught up in statistics. Most important thing for good playmakers to touch football. Run blocking in sync.

On adversity defense the last two weeks... It's been great. Definitely helps you from an offensive standpoint. Can be more aggressive. We're a different defense since the bye week with changes we made. Cohesiveness, it's really come together.

On captains speaking in Saturday meeting... First off, it was a team meeting. It's like Las Vegas -- what stays there, stays there. Had a team meeting. Excused everyone except the players. I think 'playoff captain' is a big deal. It says a lot about those chosen. It was very important to give them the platform to speak to their teammates. When coaches are not in the room, the conversation is different. Not the first time we've done it.

On Clay Matthews not being a captain... Don't think he's bothered by it. Clay sees the big picture. Important to understand the dynamics of every locker room. Morgan Burnett a young player ascending. Great the way it panned out. Don't think Clay is taken back. Not a contest. Clay Matthews is a leader. We have more than six leaders on this team.

On Matthews... Clay has had his best year in my opinion. What he's done, going in to play ILB without a lot of reps at that, speaks volumes. I think he's been an excellent teammate. This is the most we've used him. Our run defense has taken a huge step and he's been a big part of it.

On Adams maybe hitting rookie wall... Rookie wall, I would think with CBA and new schedule we're on, it doesn't exist. When you break it down, it's remarkable what a rookie goes through. ... They really don't get a break. Only natural you think they have the wall. Important to realize a lot education into that. With Davante, hey, we all dropped the ball 2 weeks ago. One drop, I'd call it more of a dislodge by the safety. A tough catch. We just have to make sure his confidence is where it needs to be.

I had the oddest dream last night. Some guy was yelling about the lions and Packers game. Very strange person. Had an odd way of speaking.

Here's what he said:

BWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH! YOUR ALL BABIES. MARK IT DOWN. PUCKERS WILL LOSE.

FART ROTGERS WILL CHOCK! PUCKERS WILL CHOCK! CRYBABIES WILL CRY. BWWWAAAAAAAAAAHHHH! SO LONG BABIES!

Stevie Wonder could see there's a problem in Detroit. A clear pattern of behavior that needs to be changed, and thus far, whatever action the league has taken hasn't produced the change.

It's apparent 2 game suspensions don't work, so 1 game shouldn't be considered. I'd say 4 is a good starting point.

Bad sportsmanship doesn't belong in any sport, and if players can't live with that, then find another line of work.
