Personally I think the Packers should do a variation of the ol' carrot on a stick as an honor to him. "If you can catch your jersey we'll retire it!"

He's in pretty good shape so that should occupy him until it's time to retire #12.

This.

Make it the 4th game too so he has to watch guys play who won't even make the team.

Pick a date (Sunday night football seems appropriate), inform Favre of it and do it whether he shows up or not.  If he fails to show up for his own jersey retirement the only one with egg on his face will be himself.

Chronology of events over the past week or so.

Murphy: It's not gonna happen this year... we're both worried about boos.

Favre: Harlan is spearheading this thing...

Murphy: Bring back Favre for a game this season but not jersey burning

Harlan back in the drivers seat for the Packers?

I don't think the Favre - Murphy relationship is even close to good.

and now we're to the a$$ kissing part where we have to hear about the coordination just to have his lil' majesty attend a game sans any ceremony?  FFS I don't care if he comes to a game and sits in a box.  go ahead, it's a somewhat free country.  I don't notify the front office and the national press when I go to a game.

keeeriste, wake me up after bert feels his ego has been sufficiently stroked to allow the GBP to retire his jersey.  FFS.  same ol' chit, same ol' lil' bert donna.

for as much as I used to enjoy the guy he sure is nothing but odious to me now.

This makes sense:

@RobDemovsky: Monday's announcement: Brett Favre will be inducted into the #Packers HOF in 2015 and have his No. 4 retired, per sources. Story coming.

Did he ever file his papers?

The NFL needed to know for sure that he was going to GB for the retirement as they are deep into the 2015 scheduling process.

I'm guessing it will be the home opener, vs Chi on SNF. They'll recognize Wolf too. Harlan walks onto the field with both.

Those are just ceremonial, they don't actually mean anything.

I'd be OK with that.  What I don't want to see for the opener is Seattle at GB.  I still think they psyched themselves out last summer thinking about Seattle every day of camp.

I think that was part of the same deal, being so psyched out by Seattle that they thought they needed a special defense gimmick (so special they asked the media to not even report on it, talk about Seattle being in their heads).  I was convinced Capers needed to go before that experiment but that sealed it I thought.  I do admit they improved as the year went on and right up until they fell apart they played excellent against Seattle.  I still think they could move on successfully without Capers.

In thinking about Brent.......oh yeah, still fukk him.

I'll go pee when they retire his number....my way of honoring him.

Brett Favre talked with FOX's Greta Van Susteren again. Used same platform 6+ years ago to eviscerate Ted Thompson and Packers organization.

Not much said:

Today former Packers quarterback Brett Favre took to national news and sat down with Appleton native Greta Van Susteren from Fox News.

In the brief interview, they discussed his sports app, coaching high school football, and Favre's much anticipated induction into the Hall of Fame.

Favre said he was excited to return to Green Bay and Lambeau field.

"There's no other place like it there really isn't," Favre said.

Van Susteren questioned the quarterback about why his induction ceremony would be held in the atrium opposed to the field at Lambeau, where potentially more people could attend. Tickets to the event have already sold out while none were ever made available to the general public.

Favre had no answer but said he would like it to be on the field.

As a native of Appleton and a shareholder, Van Susteren said she was also looking forward to the ceremony where his number will be retired.

"I'm thankful that they're having me back and will do the ceremony," Favre said. "There's nothing like Lambeau Field."

Bert still being Bert as far as I can see.

He is now dictating how the Packers run their ceremony...how they've done it for decades...but suddenly he wants it moved to Lambeau, so that "everyone can see."

More like so he can puff up his ego with all the ballwashers who make their way to see that clown.

Tickets to the event have already sold out while none were ever made available to the general public.

WTF?!? TO whom? Murphy's family & Favre's family? DO they have 12 folding chairs to "accommodate" the 12 sold out tickets? or 13 seats? Don't forget to add Goodell

I believe there were 1600 tickets sold - those are all your Lambeau corporate sponsors and GB's moneyed people buying those up.  I think they always offer them to the businesses first, a thank you, but they've never bought them all up before.

and of course bert wants his ceremony to be bigger and better...  just for the fans' sake, mind you, not his ego, no, not that, that's not the reason, not at all.

Dear Bert:

Here's how we're doing the f'in ceremony:

Same damn way we've done it for all of the recent Packer greats like Driver.  If you want the crowd to cheer for you one last time as some sort of 'I'm really not a douche' reinforcement for yourself, come on out and serve as an honorary captain during alumni weekend.

Otherwise, if you don't like it, go piss up a frozen rope.

XOXOXO

Ted and Mike

Of course, this whole thing is being handled by The Murph, which means they'll probably kowtow to this guy so they can rake in the revenue from the blessed return of the prodigal son.

If nothing else, this latest BS provides yet another window into what it must've been like to have tried to manage this freaking guy.  Ugh.

I think he is picturing a jersey retirement ceremony in the stadium during a game, but can't separate the two things in his mind.  In any case, I think he still feels he has been wronged and he is hoping the Packers' effort to do it the way he wants will correct things.  Otherwise, it's simply more evidence of how poorly the Packers (TT) have treated him.

Packers HoF, Packers and Brent should do it in Lambeau with all proceeds over and above those which would have come from an atrium-only ceremony (which go to the Packer HoF, IIRC) going to charities. Like Rawhide, the MACC fund, and American Family Children's Hospital, to name just three.

Too altruistic I suppose.
