Seve Ballasteros would have turned 60 today. He passed away in May 2011 at 54 from brain cancer. He was a poor kid from Spain that learned to play every shot on every hole from every spot with a two iron. That was his only club. His Uncle finished 6th in the masters in 1965.

Seve won the 1979 Open Championship after hitting a drive into a parking lot on the 16th hole of the final round and made birdie. 22 years old. He won 5 majors. 2 Masters. 3 Open Championships.

Before Seve Spain wasn't on Golf's map. Then he mentored Jose Maria Olathabal (2 Masters wins) and Sergio Garcia. The three of them owned the Ryder Cup. ****ing unbeatable. They just made shots you'd never possibly imagine. That was all born from Seve. And then Sergio wins at Augusta. Out of nowhere. On Seve's 60th.
