With the draft tomorrow, I figured I'd start the discussion. Who do the Bucks end up with their pick and how likely is it that they dip into the free agent pool?

Someone commented in another thread that the Bucks should go over after Kevin Love in a trade. Isn't Ellenson a poor-man's version of Love at a small fraction of the cost? Is he in play at #10?

I'd love to see Hield drop to the Bucks, but I don't think a guy that can shoot that well will fall that far.

Finally, is Dwight Howard really in play for the Bucks? Isn't he just a slightly better version of Bogut at this point? A good role player, but not worth the max?

Regarding Howard, if Lasry/Edens want Howard, it's going to happen. No one thinks this guys a max guy... Of course not! But he's a bit more valuable than Bogut. He's not a 20 minute a night guy.

And max dollars shouldn't scare anyone anymore. Not with these owners. The arena has shovels in the ground- they need to make a splash. It's as much a business deal as a basketball deal.

That said, if it doesn't happen it's fine by me. Rumors abound that Monroe's on the market. Plenty of suitors I think. Maybe even Cleveland. Swap for a shooter? Good enough for me.

Min the meantime, how far has Derrick Rose and the Bulls fallen??? He was the MVP, they won 60 games and almost took LeBron down in the playoffs. 4 years later the team is gutted and he's shipped to New York. Wow...

And basically shipped to the Knicks for spare parts. Trade was Robin Lopez, guard Jose Calderon and guard Jerian Grant to Chicago, which shipped guard Justin Holiday, Rose and a 2017 second-round pick back to the Knicks.

I really think they need to let Giannis run the point.  Nobody could defend the guy at the 1 guard  position and he became a triple double machine.

They still need another guard - preferably a guy that can shoot. Maybe Vaughn is that guy and makes the leap?

Still need another big guy.  Such a shame Larry Sanders melted down as he would be the perfect fit for this team and their style of play

I for one am not giving up on MCW. He still has enormous upside, if he's used correctly.

That he'll ever be a great PG is certainly an illusion. But a specialist combo G with good defensive instincts? He could really thrive in that environment. He learns to post up, starts using his athleticism? Now you have something.

They need shooting. They'll get some from within, but they need some from without too.

I love the "comparisons" in that mock.  Coincidentally every foreign player's game is exactly like that of a different foreign player.  WEIRD!  And every white player coincidentally plays like other white players!  Henry Ellenson isn't like Al Horford at all, but way like Troy Murphy!  There's nothing in Stephen Zimmerman's game that makes you think of Roy Hibbert or Tyson Chandler.  But Cole Aldrich?  HELL TO THE YES.  I mean, look at that skin color, mid range game.

The general consensus is that the Bucks are out of their minds.

Milwaukee Bucks: F

As inexplicable as the Papagiannis pick was, the Thon Maker pick was worse. The Kings are always going to be the Kings as long as Vlade and Vivek are in charge, but the Bucks could actually be good. You can't just throw away top–10 picks like they're nothing.

There's a way to see Maker as a case of the Bucks doubling down on the weirdness of their roster and putting together the most science–fiction lineup possible, and maybe that's how it'll play out, but I don't see it. Maker should have been a second rounder, not a top 10 pick. He has raw tools, but not many skills, and this week there were allegations that he's three years older than he claims. These are not good signs. Really, almost every move Milwaukee's made since drafting Giannis and Jabari—trading for MCW, signing Greg Monroe, trading for Grievis Vasquez, inexplicably drafting Rashad Vaughn—has been a failure. Worse, most of these moves were clearly bad ideas at the time.

Mostly, it bums me out because Giannis is absolutely for real, and Milwaukee should be one of the most entertaining teams in the league. But whoever is running things is screwing this up.
