Thats going to be a relaxing and enjoyable day of thanks for family, friends, and the Green Bay Packers.

strange that all 6 Thanksgiving day teams are in the NFC and in the playoff hunt (yeah technically bares arent eliminated just yet)

not complaining but I thought they tried to balance the conference slate a bit. first time since the merger no AFC teams on thanksgiving

so are we rooting for Niners over Hags?

I would say it's probably in GB's best interest that AZ win the West, even if makes them the top seed. I don't see them winning a playoff game regardless of where and when it is played, so the 2 seed is as good as home field advantage for the Pack IMHO. I'm pulling for Cards from here on out, and hoping the 9ers and Hawks split that series.

I always find it helpful to have my rooting interests squared away before sitting down to watch a game I have absolutely no impact on.

Jim Schwartz' fingerprints are still on that team.

Which games do you have a impact on?

After going through the ESPN Playoff Machine I have the Packers getting the #2 seed at 12-4 (losing on some tie-breaker or another to Arizona). But, if GB happens to lose the finale against Detroit they'd lose the division and be out of the playoffs altogether. Those wild-card slots are tough to come by. I suppose in my scenario I had the Eagles taking the East, we should cheer against that since we have the head-to-head advantage for a wildcard tie-break. Of course that also goes for if we both win our divisions and go for that #2 seed.

What we really need is for Detroit to get kicked around by some truly crappy teams. Go Bears?

How a 12-4 team could miss out on a wild card:

DET wins out
GB loses only to DET in week 17.  Both teams end up 12-4; DET wins the division on head-to-head.

DAL and PHI split their two head-to-head games and win their other three games.  Both end up 12-4; I think PHI would win the divison by virtue of a better divisional record.

SEA or SF wins out to get to 12-4; ARI wins at least three the rest of the way.

You'd have three wild-card contenders with 12 wins: one in the NFC West, one in the NFC East, and GB.  I don't know which team would lose on the tiebreaker.
