More likely that Flynn's agent is who's genius. Who really knows how interested the Giants were in Flynn. But it was probably enough to push TT's pen to ink him.

It's a dream job IMO. Assuming Rodgers stays healthy, Flynn is only going to see mop up duty at best. Otherwise it's a lot of clip board holding, chest bumps on the sidelines, and wondering how good do I look in my baseball bat.

Hell of a way to make a lot of coin for an on-call job.

Some of us liked Kuhn, Hall and Johnson.

As for Flynn, the guy got the team to 2-2 after about 8 practices back with the team, and I wouldn't pin either of the losses solely on his shoulders. There are about 18 teams that would kill for a starting QB that could get them to .500, so the Pack could do a lot worse for their backup.

That said, I don't think anyone would be upset if someone beat out Flynn that had more upside and possible long-term trade value.

Pboi,

Your totally right about being a cush job for making some serious coin.  But for alot of these guys and Flynn especially, its got to suck knowing that he isn't going to get any playing time, but potentially could compete for a starting position on another team.  Practice all week and sit on the bench.  For the average joe, sounds great, most of these guys are ultra competitors, and I would think it would kill them to sit on the bench, during a game, no matter how much they make, unless your Haynesworth.

I'm glad to see Flynn back.

Not because I think he gives us a veteran presence at QB, not because I think he could potentially save a season in the event of injury, or because I think he adds any future value for a trade.

It's because he showed guts last year in his role here. He took a beating most weeks, and didn't fold. If he was hurting, he played through it, and played reasonably well.

Sometimes, to me anyway, it's the little things I respect the most. Pride, integrity, guts...I'll take that on my team anytime.

I like Flynn and I'm glad he's back with the team. While I don't think he's an all pro, I think he's more capable than many starters in the NFL. But he doesn't look like he's a quick study and he's rigid in his approach. He's an anti-gunslinger. He needs lots of time in a system to get his reads and timing down. This undermined his chances in Seattle and Oakland, against guys who were adept at improvising.

Flynn doesn't suck, necessarily.  As long as he isn't paid to be a starter, it is OK, but there is next to no upside, which isn't how Ted usually operates.  Tolzien at least has upside with youth and an arm, but he is replaceable as well.

I can see Ted drafting a QB in the third/fourth round, then likely they keep Flynn as a mentor, emergency QB.

I can also see one not taken at all, in which case they keep both and give Mike a chance to see what he's got in Tolzien.

I just see nothing to be excited about with Flynn (not that you get to excited about a backup QB anyway).  I think his performance last year will be overblown by Packer fans, which ultimately isn't a big deal as long as he keeps holding a clipboard.

Of course, we can franchise him at the end of the year and trade him for a pot of gold, so he's got that going for him.

Jermichael Finley will get an x-ray done on his neck to help determine where he is in his recovery process on Monday: "According to Tom Pelissero of USA Today, that X-ray will be done in Arizona on Monday with MRI and CAT scans to follow if all looks good on the X-ray. Pelissero reports that Finley is “on track,” but that it remains “unclear” when he’ll be given the green light by doctors to resume his career."

Finley had drawn interest from the Seahawks and Mike McCarthy has stated that the Packers would be interested in having Finley return as well. However, before anything happens, Finley's body will have to cooperate first.

With Finley as vocal as he is and being an UFA, it's pretty much a lock had he gotten good news he would have splattered that all over twitter/social media.

I'm guessing it's either not healing as they thought it would or it's taking much longer then he was hoping.

At his level of fusion, I'll be shocked if he is ever cleared.
