MM Speaking now:

@BrianCarriveau

MM: The offseason has given the coaching staff a chance to mold and galvanize the football team.

@BrianCarriveau

MM on Clay Matthews: I haven't seen him personally yet. ... Our staff meeting is at 4:30. That's when info will be compiled and presented

@BrianCarriveau

MM does not know as of yet what players will be missing from training camp.

@BrianCarriveau

MM: We really like our roster, @BrianCarriveau

it's a group we can do some special things.

@BrianCarriveau

MM on practicing in pads: We're going through a different schedule in the second half of our camp. ... Your goal is to be in pad every day.

@BrianCarriveau

MM on defense: Ha Ha (Clinton-Dix), he came in and you could tell right away that he belongs.

@BrianCarriveau

MM on keeping three QBs: The opportunity for three QBs comes down to how the third quarterback potentially performs.

@BrianCarriveau

MM on three QBs: I know Ted (Thompson) is not opposed to keeping three quarterbacks.

@BrianCarriveau

MM: This offensive line that we have here has the potential to be the best offensive line that we've had.

@BrianCarriveau

MM on Finley: He's going through a medical situation and first and foremost, you just want him to get healthy.

@BrianCarriveau

MM on offensive line: I like our experience level. ... We have a very healthy situation at the tackle spots.

@BrianCarriveau

MM: Derek Sherrod looks good and we can't wait to get him through a full training camp.

@BrianCarriveau

MM on tight ends: I like our tight ends. That's an area where we have to get some padded work.

BrianCarriveau

MM on tackling & staying healthy: I give our strength & conditioning staff a ton of credit. ... We don't run 'gassers' here.

@BrianCarriveau

MM on tackling: Our tackling drills we've adjusted, the timing of different drills, when they happen.

@BrianCarriveau

MM on personal evaluation: I feel like I can improve and when you stop feeling that way, I think you're lying to yourself.

MM: That KC game is a critical game for our players. Can't tell you how many times you go into last game of the year and it changes

MM: You project your reps and how you're going to play guys, it's a real challenge trying to get whole team evaluated

MM: Can't say enough about Don Barclay. Derek Sherrod looks good. You have to feel good about depth on OL

 ·  15m

MM: I actually haven't seen Pat McKenzie in quite some time. We're still open to that. Jermichael Finley is a Green Bay Packer IMO

MM: Running football when you have to is of most importance. I'm excited to see what DuJuan Harris is going to give us

MM on no practice before/after preseason game: This is 1st time schedule has changed in nine years. 3rd year we talked about it. Taking leap

MM: Your goals will be in pads. That's thought but really how team moves through camp...looking back, we haven't started way we wanted to

MM on not listing pad practices: Talking to training staff, we are going through a different sked 2nd half of camp. New in-season schedule.

MM: 2014 training camp. I know I'm excited. Everyone has been buzzing around here all week. Coming off offseason program, good vibe

My inside sources are telling me that Rodgers has a headache this morning. Fat McCarthy placed him on IR because that's where the droppings from his jelly donut landed on the personnel sheet.

Long, painful, 3-13 season.

Hi Tom, Am I delusional to think the packers can win 11+ games in 2014? I'm not sure the defense will be any better.
Absolutely not. The expectation should be that they win 12. They should have one of the best offenses in the league. Defensively, if they're not better than Dom Capers will be gone next year. They've spent a lot of capital in recent years on defense (Perry, Jones, Clinton-Dix, Peppers, Guion) and if Ted Thompson knows anything about football they're going to be better. If they don't win 11, with a healthy Rodgers, then you have to wonder whether Thompson and McCarthy have lost their touch.

I like this from MM: "MM on personal evaluation: I feel like I can improve and when you stop feeling that way, I think you're lying to yourself."

Hopefully, he's reflecting and improving on those 3-and1 passes...

News from player physicals:

@WesHod: Nick Perry and Mike Neal declared physically unable to perform on #NFL transaction report.

@WesHod: Guion and Worthy declared non-football injury. Jeff Janis declared non-football illness. Clay Matthews not listed at all.

@WesHod: Jerel Worthy non-football injury has my mind spinning. Both Guion and Neal were full participants in offseason program.

@jasonjwilde: Based on NFL transaction report, #Packers OLB Clay Matthews must be cleared for takeoff for tomorrow's opening training camp practice.

@RobDemovsky: No mention of Andrew Quarless among the #Packers who likely did not pass their physicals. Means he should be good to go after missing OTAs.

@RobD40: @RobDemovsky So can any of these guys be added to the roster to practice anytime? Or do they have to wait til week 6?

@RobDemovsky: @RobD40 They can be added at any time. The six week thing doesn't take effect until the regular season.

Neal left the WC game in Jan with a knee injury. He was a full participant during OTA's. I expect this is because they don't have all the scan info back. As part of his test today he likely had pictures taken of the knee.

As for Perry, time to pull his head out of his ass.

Man, what pampered turds.  I am So tired of these well-paid dudes getting paid for sitting on the bench or bathing in the tub.

I'm sick of Nick Perry.   From MJS:

Perry has missed 15 of a possible 32 regular-season games and played in just 11 last year because of a foot injury. The first-round pick missed all but 10 games in 2012 due to a wrist injury.

Down two 'elephants' at the start of TC can't help implementation the new DL scheme.

He tried that in the Dells a few years ago with a stripper, if I remember correctly.

I think the story was, she loosened quite a few hamstrings that night.

  1. That's not always the case, like Casey Hayward last year. But Mike Neal also started on the PUP list last year. Came off quickly.

  2. I think it's important to note that these pre-training camp injuries can sometimes be rather minor. Players can come off lists quickly.

have a lot of linebackers and it looks like they're going to use them in a variety of ways. Moving Matthews around a bunch.

3h

If there's a way to get Matthews, Peppers and perhaps another OLB on the field at the same time, it looks like Capers is going to try.

Good start for Casey Hayward. In this period, offense tests him deep two times and he sticks with his man.

3h

Casey Hayward has been tested twice deep by Quarless and Adams and won both times.
