To be honest. Whether or not Jeff Janis makes the roster is a huge nonstory in the bigger 2017 picture. The offense is going to be fine if Jeff is tackling punt returners. The offense is going to be fine if Jeff runs a go route straight to the Vikings practice squad.

Can Randall and Rollins bounce back? Can Clay and Nick stay healthy? Can Fackrell become a legitimate outside pass rusher? Can Clark build on his strong 2016 second half of the season? Can Dom and staff actually coach up all these high draft picks. Does House have anything left to offer? Is Jayrone Elliot simply a preseason masterpiece? Can King become a legit #1 corner? Is Geronimo Allison actually as good as he flashed at the end of 2016? Ryan or Martinez. One of them needs to step up. Those are the big picture questions going into 2017. **** Jeff Janis.

Packer beat writers all agree that the lengthy e-mails and letters they receive on how the Packers are failing Jeff Janis are unlike anything they've ever seen. Michael Cohen recently talked about a 400 word e-mail he received from a fan that outlined how Jeff Janis is the best safety on the Packers roster only no one sees it. To date Cohen has been told Janis is a RB, CB, ILB, SS, FS, and TE but GB won't give him a shot.

It's almost enough to wish Malachi Dupre was white so everyone could turn the page on Jeff Janis.

GB drafts a 6'3" burner out of a tiny DII school a few years back in the 7th round. He's got sub 4.4 40 speed and a huge vertical. He spends some time on the practice squad early on but there's never any real noise about GB failing to recognize all his immense ability. Put on the PS and kind of forgotten.

He goes elsewhere after a few months on the GB PS and strings together a few pretty decent seasons at WR and still no one is up in arms that GB failed to unleash all his untapped potential and certainly never any talk that the Packers should have tried him out at ILB and safety.

His name was Charles Johnson. For the life of me I don't get why there was no outrage over GB failing Charles Johnson. You'd think it'd be clear as black and white.

Interesting thought. Johnson was injured and on the PS. His injury was underreported until he was picked up by another team. He then had to sit out. His fate was always a puzzle to me. The Vikings later picked him up and is a serviceable back-up there.

Official Janis nickname for this season:  Zippy the Whitehead

I really cannot figure out why you Yankees are so hung up on race? I see more references to race here than any sports forum place I have read in 40 years.

I am sure there is an inside joke that I am missing.

I don't know about the rest of the world but I call 'em as I see 'em.  Let me know where Southerners are on race when I don't see cars in the middle of Jacksonville with "Get Out Niggers".

How many people **** their pants over this?

Up Nort they just whisper about them niggers and start sentences with "I'm not a racist but . . . ".

See CJ's post about Charles Johnson.  That Janis is so articulate.

And to end this on as positive a note as possible.  Most people aren't intentionally racist.  In fact it's just unaddressed prejudices, WHICH EVERY PERSON ON THE PLANET HAS.  They are just unaware of what gets ingrained in the local society because it's been there for decades if not centuries.  Be strong enough to look internally and say, "Oh, so that's there" and go about your day.  You won't ever have to start sentences with "I'm not a racist but . . .".  It's nice.

Edit:  Honestly, who gives a **** anymore.  Keep over analyzing a bit ST player.  I wonder if Jarett Bush will make the leap this year?

I see Williams as someone I've never watched play an actual game.

If he's as big of BEAST as Serena or Venus, we are set.

Don't care for this, please stop with the derogatory remarks about two of the greatest women in tennis.   Thanks.

Sorry Goldie. They are no doubt great tennis players, but having a "Williams" with a big caboose would do wonders for our short yardage game.

I seem to have struck a nerve. Sorry about that. It just came up so often that I wondered why. Other places don't mention race when discussing a player.

So it wasn't some kind of "Micah Hyde is a racist" joke after all?

I am quite sure Janis is a little tired of the hype.  He strikes me as a regular country guy who is gifted athletically just not a great wide receiver!!  He is a hell of  a special teams guy, so why not appreciate that and savor that occasional bolt  bolt of lightning that he provides!!

Yeah, I get pretty pissy.  So I should mention there's no particular venom towards yourself.

Point is this.  There have been a truckload of physically impressive, potential guys who have gone through this roster.  Janis is Jarrett Bush.  Not a bad guy to have on your team as ST, reserve guy.  Where the jokes come in is the constant harping of how Janis will "get it" or he's being "misused".  Janis is the Wisconsin version of Tim Tebow.

CJ laid it out perfectly.  Charles Johnson and Janis, pretty damn close to identical in skillsets and college experience.  So why does that become of race thing?  It's a condition called Great Whitey Hopeitis, another inbuilt condition people should look at getting treated.  You in particular may not suffer from this but all the endless harping in the comments sections and endless theories would prove there are many who have been stricken.

I think we all see it that way.  We just wish everyone else would too.  As long as they don't I sure the hell won't pass up a chance at comedy.
