I look at this Lions loss as similar to the 49ers loss (twice I think) to the Rams last year. In reality there's no reason why the 49ers should have lost twice to the Rams, but sometimes you just get some bad matchups and one team plays more inspired football. It sucks but it happens. We have had worse starts in GB.
It's also possible that the Lions are better than the Packers.

To go with the 6 drops v DET and the 5 drops v NYJ, Aaron Rodgers has over/under thrown 11 pct of his passes in '14, twice his career average.

The Patriots are last in the league in yards per offensive play.
The advantage the Packers have always had against the Lions was AR under center. Sunday that didn't matter and top to bottom I'd rate Detroit's personnel as superior to the Packers'.
Right now until they demonstrate otherwise I'd put the Packers as the third best team in the division, behind both the Lions and Bears.
most of the Packers problems seem to be between the ears.
hopefully that will clear when they pull their heads out of their behinds.
time for players to start making plays, play with confidence and attitude.

If you redrafted 2005 and 2009 AR and CM3 go higher, but who was the last impact player/Pro Bowl type the Packers added that is still on the roster? Jordy Nelson, Josh Sitton, and ....? The Packers have several good players that you can win with like Williams, Shields, Lang, and Daniels, but unless you think Eddie Lacy is going to regain last year's form, they have no one else (other than Julius Peppers) that people have to game plan around. Draft and develop works to fill in solid talent if you hit on a couple of superstars - which is what happened with Rodgers and Matthews in 2010. It doesn't get you the superstars. The majority of the time these guys come at the top of the draft - (Tom Brady and Russell Wilson are exceptions).
I should have added the other advantage the Packers had was Jim Schwartz as coach. That one wasn't there either Sunday.

**** Detroit. All this Pro Bowl level talent they've acquired over the years and they haven't seen a playoff game since 2011. They haven't won a playoff game since 1991.

I think that this is spot on. There is, to me, obvious friction between AR and MM. Not sure who is right. But maybe this goes back to the playoff loss to the 49'ers, when they needed to get a TD, not settle for a FG, and that call with Cobb. You've got AR there, trust him, bit no MM did not.

That game was about the Packers misfiring, not capable, or willing, to attack a weak Lions secondary. The game had zero to do with the Lions draft position vs. Packers draft position. Or: MM was out-coached by a schlub of a HC.
Does anyone see Rodgers and McCarthy hugging on the sideline? How about quick waves or subtle glances? You never see Mike give Aaron backrubs anymore.

You forgot Levy. Really good case to be made that he was the best player on the field Sunday and he was a third-rounder. Absolutely nothing wrong with TT's draft and develop philosophy but he's had too many misses of late.
The teams that give the Packers trouble are those with a good front seven on D and while the Lions have a crap secondary they do have a dominant DL and pretty good LBs. Those types of teams can basically rush 4 and drop everyone else into coverage.
