BTW, I could live with Dale Sveum as the next skipper of the Crew ... IMO he is a good baseball guy.
Cubs got rid of him because the Lil beeotch at SS pouting, he'd done well with their group of kids IMO.
He will not take crap, that's for sure and if I remember right he is the one credited with getting Gomez going in the right direction.

I heard the name Mike Jirschele as 3rd base coach of K C. I thought I recognised the name from the WI State basketball tournament when my high school played Clintonville back in the late 70's. So I looked it up and this is what his bio says:

Joined the Royals Major League staff on October 25, 2013...will carry the title Major League coach...has been with the Kansas City organization since 1992... Jirschele has been the manager for the Omaha Storm Chasers (AAA) for the last 11 seasons, leading the team to four division titles, three-straight trips to the Pacific Coast League Championship (2011-13), two PCL titles (2011, 2013) and a Triple-A Championship in 2013... Earned the 2011 Mike Coolbaugh Award for outstanding baseball work ethic, knowledge of the game and skill in mentoring young players on the field... Completed his second stint as manager of the Omaha franchise after leading the Omaha Royals from 1995-97...posted the most wins in franchise history (995), while his 2,013 games managed were also the most in team history..

Mike and his wife, Sheri, reside in Clintonville, Wis

Yep, same guy. With a pretty impressive  coaching resume at the AAA level that he has would Melvin consider bringing a local back to take the Brewers to the next step?

Pedro Martinez was railing on Yost for his horrible choices about bringing relievers and especially putting in Ventura.   Pedro was unmerciful in his comments.  Somewhat refreshing to hear.

Very interesting game to watch. With me generally being a manager apologist, even I was stunned by stupidity of the Ventura move considering:

1. 1 relief appearance all year.

2. 70 pitches on Sunday,

3. Arguably (by the talking heads) the best pen in the game.

Ned lost me in the Brewtown with the beaning of Pujols late in the game that year when the team was fighting for a playoff bid. That last night move went above and beyond that. I actually expect him to still get canned unless they make to the World Series. Indefensible move.

Yost orders double steal in bottom of first with Alex Gordon at the plate, your best hitter at the plate with runner in scoring position.

Bringing in Ventura.

Four sacrifice bunts

Yosted.

Kruk on Letterman talking about Albert Belle corking his bat:

"Here's a guy that can hit the ball 500 feet, I guess he wanted to hit it a THOUSAND!"

P.S. MadBum DOMINATING last night.

Waited 5 years for the Angels to get back to the postseason and that's what I get treated to. Brutal

Still, much better season to watch than the last 4, that's for sure.

Even better is the ALCS is some new blood. Don't have a dog in this fight, but wouldn't mind seeign the Royals continue their run

Hoping the Giants do well. Going to playoff games in that park is fun and WS parades are unforgettable to be a part of

Set up by a very questionable decision by Matt Williams taking Zimmerman out with two outs in the 9th after a walk. In his last two games, he'd retired 54 of 58 hitters, and 20 in a row before the walk. He was also at 100 pitches, it's not like he was sitting on 125. He'd struck out the first two guys in the inning.

Pretty glum hear in Motown today after the Tigers were swept out of the ALDS. The Birds beat 3 CY YOUNG Pitchers in getting the sweep.

Last 3 years making the ALCS and now going home early.

I like Showalters move last night in the 9th, going against one of the unwritten rules of Baseball, by intentionally walking the winning run on base to get to a presumed weaker hitter. Worked out great as they got the game ending DP.

Football officially starts in about 3 weeks.

Strikezone whining = weak sauce.

First the Nats, now the Dodgers b*tching about how bad the strikezones are.

Deal with it you pu$$ies. They zones have been consistent in all the games I've seen...both sides have reaped benefit and pain from them.

So the Cardinals have made the NLCS 4 years straight.  Funny thing, this years team probably has the least amount of talent as the previous three.  And they just knocked out the West Coast Yankees and their 200 million dollar payroll.

Must be that "Cardinal Way"

The Cardinals outscored the Dodgers 15-4 in innings 7-9, winning the series despite not leading entering the seventh inning in any of the games.

How do they consistently do this?  They did the same thing to the Brewers several times this past season.

How is it possible in this day and age to have so many managers who have no idea what they are doing?

We know all about RR and Yosts antics.

But Donnie Baseball sits his best hitter in a must win game and then uses him as a PINCH RUNNER!!! in a one run game. Was there honestly no one else available to pinch run you could use so you could, you know, pinch hit for a guy like Dee Gordon with your best hitter?!!!

Then Matt Williams comes around and tells Mattingly and Yost to move aside, because he's dumber than them all. For starters, why is Bryce Harper hitting 6th? Because he is young? The middle of that lineup was awful this series, but at least Harper is hitting solo homers from the 6-spot. Then that 7th inning…wow. You could use Strassburg, Clippard, or Storen in that situation. This is an elimination game. Nope, he goes with his "7th inning guys", has a lefty pitch to Buster Posey, then brings in a righty to pitch to Pablo Sandoval (who sucks hitting from the right). How you put in a guy who walked 20 batters in 40 innings in a high leverage situation rather than one of your top relievers or top starter who's available is beyond words.

How about Saturday night. Zimmerman had set down 50 of 54 batters & Williams yanks him after 8 - 2/3 only to have the "closer" give up the tying run.

Bochy is the best post-season manager I've ever seen.

Bochy is very good, indeed. I liked how in Game 2 he went to his closer in the 12th or 13th inning to face the middle of the Nats order. He wasn't saving his best reliever for a "save situation" but instead went to his best reliever vs the Nats best hitters just so they can extend the game and try again the next inning

So many managers live by this imaginary book of bullpen roles where certain guys MUST ON LY pitch the 7th/8th/9th innings. Matt Williams was truly terrible with this, as evidenced by going to Aaron Barrett in the 7th in the tie game and leaving him in to blow the lead. No reason why you don't bring your stud reliever Clippard in there...but since Williams subscribes to the imaginary bullpen role book, Clippard must ONLY pitch the 8th!

And there is no doubt in my mind that if Josh Hamilton and CJ Wilson were on the Giants, Bochy would have left both of them off the playoff roster
