Rusty posted this last year after the Eagles' game, and it's appropriate for this thread, IMHO. Look at the downfield effort by Adams (not to mention Lacy!), then check out Quarless. Not only didn't he get a block; the guy he could've hit is one who winds up tackling Lacy. That's nothing more than being a lazy turd.
If he gets released by the Packers, it won't be because of all this other crap. It will be because he'd rather be lazy than trying to better himself.
If he wants to be a Top-10 TE, he better take a look at the Arena League or CFL.

This opens the door to a few other possibilities.

Mitchell Henry looked very good in OTAs. Has size at 6-4 252, and caught just about everything.

Justin Perillo has looked impressive in camp for 2 years running. That time in the system could really help him.

Then theres Tom Crabtree floating around out there. I wouldn't mind seeing him come back. Fun player and good friend of Aaron.

I'm not worried about anything lost by cutting Quarless. Not at all. Richard Rodgers as a rookie looks far better today - without a doubt. He clearly worked his ass off this offseason to improve his strength and conditioning. Last year, he was ALL lower body, completely underdeveloped in his chest and arms. That is not the case this year. One of the most impressive physical transformations in OTAs next to Adams and Elliott, from last year to this year.

Kennard Backman man is also a decent blocker. The other guys are going to be fine there. Quarless had to be top 3 on this Packers team in the "meh" category.

Dumbass blocked a lot better than Richard Rodgers last season.

Keep both Ripkowki and Kuhn since they believe TEs and FBs are interchangeable.  At least you know those guys can block.  Not exactly going full poker face with that look but can't be any worse than Quarles inconsistency.  Dumbass.

I get so sick of hearing **** like this. I go to a lot of practices. If a guy can't comment on that for what he sees... I mean, I know damn well they are in ****ing shorts already.

Good stuff, Trophies.

Quarless is no great shakes as a blocker, IMO and lost whatever downfield speed he had (not much) after his knee surgery. Only thing he has going for him is experience in the offense.

Cut the dumb SOB and send a signal to the rest of the roster. The last thing this team needs right now, with the window open as it is, is any inkling of entitlement. I'm already worried about all the pre-season hype getting into players' heads.

I guess Q's future will be based on how he's viewed in the locker room and by the coaches. Guys make mistakes and if he's well regarded by teammates and coaches and really just made a dumb decision then he will stay. GB doesn't just cut a guy because he got in trouble, there are more factors that go into it. If he's just plain old dumbfuk and his teammates are so-so on him and the coaches view him as replaceable then he's gone. My guess is that he's probably just a regular old dumbfuk...partying in Miami with a loaded gun and harassing women in a parking garage. Plus I've really never heard much come out about how other players view him, minimal or no praise but nothing negative. He doesn't get singled out like other players have for positive performances, like RichRod or Adams or Jordy or others. Really the most I can remember is him calling himself a top 5 TE. Maybe someone can find some praise he's received in the news? Point being I don't know that I've heard enough to make believe he's well regarded enough in GB to make them stick with him while he gets his crap together.

To me he seems like an immature kid who has no interest in growing up. On the field his play has been consistent. In addition he appears more interested in talking trash & woofing at opponnents than he is in playing the game. His off-the-field actions speak for themselves. Cut him to send a message that this is not the type of player we want in GB

Closest incident I could find was Detroit's Aaron Berry in 2012. He was arrested for pointing a gun during an argument and got 3 games from the league. (If memory serves - this was the incident that spurred MM's zinger about his players nicely interacting with officers at the shooting range.)

It was Berry's second offense of that month, but it was also pre-crackdown NFL, so mileage may vary for God's Gift.
