They'll sign Jordy to an extension this year with it front loaded and Cobb with his back loaded. Work with the rising cap.

Ball > Brandt

You don't overpay 30+ year old wide receivers or 28+ year old running backs. You pay elite players at the QB, LT, and CB positions along with guys that can rush the passer.

I love Jordy, but something like 4 years/40 million is too much. 3/25 is probably closer, but if he gets to free agency someone will pay him bigger bucks and he'll end up like Greg Jennings, Marco Rivera, Scott Wells, etc. as guys who produce well in Green Bay and then get overpayed by others.

Contract seems about right for Jordy.  He's everything you want in a WR; tall, strong, fast, good hands, great route runner, and not a diva.  He played most of last without Rodgers or a legit #2 WR and had a career year.  He's the definition of a guy who deserves to get paid.

This may impact their ability to sign Cobb though.  Slot WRs make less than WRs who play outside.  If Cobb thinks he's getting $10m a year like Jordy, he's going to be disappointed.  I'd expect Cobb to get more like $6-7m a year (and only if he plays a full 16 games).

Well deserved and again a great job by TT and Russ Ball.

From the Neil Greenberg article linked to above.  Worth highlighting.

Since 2011, Aaron Rodgers has thrown to Jordy Nelson 224 times and has completed 158 of those passes (70.5 percent). They have produced 2,683 yards, 26 touchdowns, three interceptions for a passer rating of 143.9. Plus, they have needed eight yards on average for the first down and have moved the chains 51.3 percent of the time.
