Prior to Nelson extension, Packers were spending $9.35M at WR position, 4th-lowest amount in NFL in ‘14. $11.5M signing bonus changes that

If 4-yrs & $39M is all “new” money, Nelson has 5-yr, $42.5M deal. $8.5M APY same as Pierre Garcon, less than Victor Cruz ($8.6M)

You're Davante Adams. You huddle up with the WRs 3 minutes into your first camp and news breaks about Jordys contract. He spends the next two hours running patterns with Jordy, Cobb, and Boykin catching passes  from Aaron Rodgers

Talk about landing in a decent spot. And that's how you stack success.

Translation: "I want 10 million/ yr too but I don't have the track record or stats to back it up yet.

Gimme a year"

Randall will have to make the same decision all of Rodgers' WR's have to make:

Be (1) part of an awesome crew or try to be The Man someplace else

Cobb will have an incredible year with the help of A-Rod.  Rodgers seems to know who needs the numbers and they all appreciate that.  TOG may have hung with his guys.  A-Rod makes sure they get paid.

Most importantly on Jordy Nelson's deal is that his 2014 salary-cap charge is $5.925 million. Packers had $13.7M before this. Room for Cobb

Cap #'s:  $5.925M in 2014, then $4.6M, $8.8M, $11.55M, $12.55M.

Shouldn't need to backload. They have room now and will have more in the future. 2014 cap is $133mm. 2016 cap is expected to be $150mm. Lots of room to grow, and all the more reason the Packers are doing this.
