Yeah, but are they counting 5.1 million against that cap like AJ?

I have never heard of another team's coach coming right out and saying we targeted this guy and the guy just can't play anymore, like the Seahawks OL coach did about Hawk.

Hawk is 2 years past his sell by date.

As it stands right now Bradford is a wasted pick.  That's not to say he has no chance of ever becoming a contributor, but for now the Packers shouldn't count on him for anything.  This isn't a situation of Ted drafting a replacement a year early, it's a situation of Ted drafting a player to fill a specific role and the guy was such a flop in the role that he was moved to a different position to try to salvage the investment.  If Bradford surprises in training camp then good for him, it would be great to find another contributor in one of the weakest areas of the team.  But I seriously doubt Ted will be counting on Bradford to be in the inside linebacker mix when he puts together his plan for free agency and the draft.

Right there, you've just disagreed with the whole draft and develop process. You draft for the future. That Bradford and Janis didn't contribute at all in year one is no reason to give up on them.

Let's talk again after year 3. I do agree though, that we can't rely on Bradford to dominate next year, but we have to believe that he might. The coaches get to see him in training. If he develops enough they might play him. Remember, it took Bishop 3 years to contribute as a starter. He just needed a chance once he develops.

Unfortunately, this has been the story of the ILB position since TT Arrived. Hawk, Jones, Palmer, Bradford, etc. were all originally outside guys. Seeing these guys just think of how terrible Ricky Elmore must have been to get immediately jettisoned.

he didn't look like he belonged at all and that he was in awe of the situation instead of taking hold of it.  one strange pick.

Not sure that was a strange pick. Remember how excited we all were about Ricky? He was tremendously productive in college. The NFL is a league for athletic freaks. Apparently, he was just merely athletic. TT took a flyer on a 6th rounder. No biggie.

TT is a great talent evaluator. Even great personnel guys are going to make mistakes. The bigger issue is keeping a guy who you know is never going to be a player just to avoid admitting you made a mistake in drafting him (BJ Sander).

Hopefully, they see something in Bradford and kept him for this reason. Otherwise, they should have cut him and brought in even a cheap street free agent that could have contributed somehow.

We shall see. We haven't seen Bradford do squat since training camp, but that doesn't mean he hasn't gotten better.

Bradford just strikes me as another Winston Moss development candidate.  Being slotted a OLB from the start was a waste.  Was it preseason when they decided to use his potential on the inside?  Maybe he has the chutzpah to overachieve but he may pull the Nick Barnett disappearing act if doesn't have plenty of blockers in front.

It's the lack of awareness by the coaches that just kills me.  Maybe they could've gotten something out of Bradford, even on a limited basis, if they had him practicing on the inside from the start.
