I had budgeted (not really) but planned to spend about $5K for two tickets if we had made it.   That would not even get me one.

Ticketmaster charges 10 or 15 % to both buyer and seller... so imagine selling just 1000 tickets at 6K each generates 1.5 Million

A company paid $200,000 for a block of 40 tickets on the Patriots' side by the 30-yard line last Thursday. The company was offered $600,000 to sell those tickets Thursday, according to a source with knowledge of the offer.

Something definitely wrong here.

Didn't hear all of Roger's speech today.  But I am willing to bet he made no mention of trying to get the game back to a point where fans...real fans...can attend a game without having to take out a short-term loan.

I think the League under Goodell's reign has become a mess.  But hey, all is good for the NFL because they're making billions.  Meanwhile, ticket prices go up and up and up.  Add in costs for time, food, parking, souvenirs and beverages too.  Plus you have to worry about going to the games and sitting next to loud, crass, rude and drunk morons...or getting beat up after the game too.  And one day the NFL will be PPV for everyone.   They make you buy the Sunday Ticket to watch one team...okay, I can do that.  But then when the game is locally broadcast subscribers cannot watch the game with the mobile app because of NFL Blackout rules.

It used to be that horse racing was sport of kings.  Now it is the NFL.

Great post, GBP1.

The owners' greed really is spectacular. Especially considering the amounts made from the TV and merchandizing contracts. But no, let's milk them more and force them to buy PSLs and have a stadium experience that requires a second mortgage to enjoy. NFL FU in all dimensions. I know I'm never going to a game again unless it's comped by someone.

The next time the Packers are in the Super Bowl, I hope enjoy the game at Fuzzy's #63 surrounded by like-minded Packer fanatics.  Then I plan to spend a few extra days in Green Bay, enjoy the rapture surrounding the city, and be there for the welcome home parade and the get-together at Lambeau.  I guess it would be fun to attend a Super Bowl... but can you imagine the city of Green Bay for the next several days?  I'd rather be there for that than actually attend the game in person.  And I'd probably come out a few bucks ahead by doing it that way...!
