Can't wait for more years of 6-10 talent coupled with a HOF quarterback!

9-7 forever.

They should have moved on from Ted.  He is washed up and has had very mediocre drafts recently.  Plus.. yes.. he doesn't sign Free Agents unless the media is out there with pitchforks about it.  It would work if he could draft well, but he is tremendously overrated in this department and we could see that last season.  They were beyond lucky to make the playoffs... and even then, they just cant match the talent of the upper tier teams in the NFL.  Heck, they aren't even as good as the AZ cardinals.

I am not Teds biggest fan but the guy gets the job done and is a great asset to the Packer organization. He deserves the extension. Losing Rodgers last year exposed the team to their inadequacies and hopefully the changes they made in the offseason fixed those problems.  I am glad he is the one making the calls at the end of the day and would not want any other GM in charge. Congrats to Steady Teddy on a job well done and awell deserved extension.

History will remember Ted much more kindly than some Packer fans think.  TT has been the best GM in Packers history, IMO.  The team is almost always in the hunt and this season is shaping up to be one to remember.  I love the young depth that has been assembled- now for a season without 16 guys on IR.

Before everyone jumps on Diggr here, he's not wrong. There've been more and more websites posting some very critical, factual analysis about TT's mediocre performance as of late. It's good stuff.

I think that but for the great number of injuries, the team's record would be phenomenal and nobody would be complaining. Did TT stumble last year with the backup QB? Yup, but I bet it doesn't happen again. He's kept a steady ship through all the other crap and I can't see that changing. Good signing.

Of course not! One superbowl as a 6 seed that barely made the playoffs and got hot at the right time..

I must give him credit for drafting advantageously over the time period, but he has by no means built a dynasty. Right now, all we are is the Giants of a few years ago. Until we can prove that this team can win consistently, play with more discipline, and run/defend the run adequately, i am not sold on this team as a dynasty.

There are the right pieces in place at critical positions. It could happen, but I just don't have faith in Ted to make the dynamic moves like Ron Wolf did.

This thread could be entirely different had the Packers not gotten very fortunate at the end of the regular season. The football gods were smiling on Lambeau last season. The sort of luck with replacement personnel we had last season wont happen again.

As I said before, as a "superbowl team" (definition: a team that has a decent shot at going to the game - it doesn't matter if I pick them or not) - as a superbowl team, if you have a glaring hole like we have at tb early in the season and you can bring in a guy of proven calibur to help carry the load at a certain position, you need to sacrifice a draft pick to get it done. This is one of my main problems with Ted Thompson. He is unwilling to make a move for a guy that could potentially be a difference maker and instead wants to preserve "next year". He is a perpetual rebuilder and not focused on the big prize

I really don't think I will Ammo. Ron Wolf >>>>>> Ted Thompson.

Would Ted Thompson trade a 1st round pick for a 3rd string QB - who eventually turned into a lock 1st round HOFer. No. Thompson has a hard time trading a 4th round pick for guys who will make an impact in the current season. We are a good team and yes he needs to be given credit for picking several impact players such as Rodgers, Jennings, Matthews.... and more. However, I think we've missed out on at least 1 other superbowl over this time period. He is over .500 for this time period, and has 1 division title. If we win the superbowl on sunday it will be huge for Ted, the city, and every Packer fan around.. but sometimes even as a 6 seed it just is your time to get hot. There are several boneheaded GMs to have won superbowls in the past. I'm not saying TT is a bonehead, but I am saying 1 appearence doesn't make the guy affirmed as being a top tier GM like this franchise deserves. The end of the season has truly been a perfect storm for our team. You'd be correct that I'd feel Thompson was "elite" if I saw a 14-2 season or two and a superbowl or two to boot. Just like I doubt anyone here thought that the Giants had an elite GM in 2008.... I really don't think we do either.

Awesome. I smell a Super Bowl coming.

Where Ted has screwed up is all these winning seasons.  If they had been more LIKE THE VIKINGS we could have acquired more higher drafter picks and would probably be in shape for a 10+ win season this year.

Instead, we had to suffer through all those playoff seasons and at best will be a 10+ win season this year.

He's no the-icon but close.

I don't get the angst, wailing, and gnashing of teeth. TT may not be without 'fault', but I can't think of a GM who has done a better overall job for their teams, but I can think of plenty who have been far worse. And with more advantages to boot.

He doesn't need to be the bestest GM in the NFL, just the best in the NFC North. And he clearly is. Look where Detoilet has been drafting the past 10 seasons and what have they done?  Emery? Ha ha ha LOL!!  Who's the GM in Minihaha land? Yeah, that's what I thought.

This meme is still alive four years later?

Let me complete this for you. If DeSean Jackson doesn't return a punt for a touchdown, the Giants make the playoffs and the Eagles don't. The Packers still make the playoffs. Next meme?

OMG, you are absolutely correct!! My bad. How did this myth originate to begin with? I've been hearing that for years. Could it be that people feel we would never have beaten the Giants in the playoffs do therefore think its that play that helped us get to the Super Bowl seeing we didn't have to face the Giants?

GB destroyed the Giants 45-17 the week after DeSean returned a punt that people continue to think would have kept the Packers out of the playoffs if it didn't happen.

Have to agree with Yooper, if things had played out differently and the Packers didn't win the Superbowl, then the Pack would not have won a Superbowl.

That is on Ted Thompson.
