This season has been great, but this sets up what is a good problem to have. Do they go out and try to get some veteran help for the last couple of months? You don't want to trade away some of the youth they've been collecting in the farm system just to end up missing the playoffs, but do they take a shot since the playoffs haven't exactly been a common occurrence?

1981, 1982, 2008, 2011.

The youth they traded to get to the playoffs in 2008 and 2011 was a mixed bag.

Matt LaPorta never amounted to anything (Sabathia)

Brett Lawrie (Marcum) has never really been more than a league average guy.

Alcides Escobar and Lorenzo Cain (Greinke) ended up being good players, but even then Escobar is 10 WAR total in his 7 years in KC and is a .260 lifetime hitter. Cain is 25 WAR for KC in 7 years - he's been a difference maker.

So, do you give up some Escobar/Cain types to get another starting pitcher to really make a run this year or do you hold tight and let the "process" play out?
