I thought this was very interesting.  Nothing earth shattering, but rarely do  personnel men speak candidly about the combine, the draft, free agency, and some of the metrics they use to evaluate players.  The panel consists of personnel men from the Rams, Patriots (Scott Pioli), and the 49ers and one of the Football Outsiders guys

This is from an MIT conference on sports from last April.

Start it at 1m48s if you'd like to skip the introductions

Really enjoyed that one Tit, thanks for posting it

They even spend a moment pimping Thompson and his philosophy of getting as much value as you can out of the draft...by trading down. They said the famous Jimmy Johnson Draft trade chart over-values the top picks and undervalues the 2nd, 3rd rounders

This one if from March I believe.  A panel with; the host of ESPN Sports Science John Brenkus , Andrew Luck, Matt Hasselbeck, and Adir Shiffman (CEO of Catapult Sports).  Catapult Sports uses analytics to help teams prevent injuries.  Their website lists the Packers as one of their clients.

If you'd like to skip to the part where Matt Hasselbeck talks about one of the third down metrics MM looks for when scheming for a defense here .  Interesting to note that Andrew Luck has adopted the number as something he uses as well.

Maybe that's why they're on the client page and not the home page

To be fair the site doesn't list when they were hired by the Packers.  Could have been this offseason.  Could be they collected the data on the players last season and will implement the corrective action this year.

The Sports Science host also readily admits that there's so much data now (10,000 measurements per second) that they're still learning which factors are the one's that matter.  They believe they have all the measurements they need, but this is the early stage in discovering which ones matter for which players and developing protocols.

It's worth keeping in mind this way of injury prevention is still in it's infancy and can't do anything about Clay breaking his thumb,  Datone twisting his ankle, or Rodgers getting pounced on.  It's more about optimizing practice for the soft tissue injuries.

Not sure a midieval siege engine built for impediment is the brand stamp I'm putting on an injury prevention operation but whatever.

Hyde and Daniels seem to be built to last based on missing no time at Iowa.

How does Hawk go year after year when Clay can't? What % is effort ? Genetics? Fan hatred?

I'm just effing sick of winning divisions with a backup team running on fumes. I hate the injuries.
