Last night's game was a mixed bag for me.  It was a close game, and it was interesting to see the QB Watson start for the first time.  But the downside of the game was that both team's offensive lines are probably in the bottom 5 of the NFL right now which allowed the defenses to dominate.

It wasn't high quality football to say the least, but it probably wasn't the worst Thursday Night game I've ever seen.  It makes you realize just how tough the NFL is, because both those teams have some legit talent, but their weaknesses undermine the talent they have.

The real issue is the stress that's put on teams like Houston and Cincy. They are young teams with glaring weaknesses. That makes it tough on staffs to adequately prepare teams on short weeks. It's hard for good teams to prepare and game plan and practice over two days (plus travel). Next week is Rams vs. 49ers. That game is going to look horrible.

Football was never meant to be played on a compressed schedule like Thursday nights on an ongoing basis. Teams can't fully prepare to put their best product on the field. And none of this takes the stress it puts on players bodies. If GB had to play last night its very likely they play without either starting tackles, Brooks, Brice, Adams, and possibly Daniels (hip).

Everything about Thursday night football is a bad idea. It's bad product. It puts stress on coaches. It puts stress on players who need a week to fully recover from the previous Sunday.
