Wood had one magical season and was never heard from again.  He's the 50HR version of Brady Anderson.

Prior was decent until injuries took their toll.   One of the most dominant college pitchers ever.

I'd argue that your descriptions are completely backwards.

Wood's rookie year was very very good.  And, after missing 99, he had solid years  in 2001-2003, and he had solid years as a relievers especially his last two with Chicago.  For sure, he didn't approach his rookie year again, but he pitched 14 years in total, and was solid for much of it.

Whereas Prior is far more the pitcher you described Wood as.  One amazing year his second year, followed by 3 injury plagued seasons (with a decent 2005 in there) and he was out of baseball completely by the age of 25.
