Cheeze posted a story about Jerry Rice catching bricks dropped off a scaffold. My HS receivers coach coated a medicine ball in super glue and rolled it in gravel and made us catch it. You learned soft hands.

If you can't catch a football with the gloves being used today you aren't trying.

I think my receivers coach is prison by the way.
