Take away whatever politicized concepts people want to cling to outside of real facts and ask yourself this. Why would the great American free market want to turn away massive emerging markets? Don't think about climate concerns, ****ting where we eat, just pure capitalist economics.
Vertical urban farming, energy reclamation, cutting edge technology for massive infrastructure update/change, energy production just to name a few. All of which have even bigger foreign policy impact. EVEN IMMIGRATION! Think about a whole slew of industry that goes around globe, for profit, helping to establish self sustained infrastructures so those yucky other people can stay in their homes? Walk through all of that while looking at what China is doing and then tell me about how it's all fantasy because of convenient "market forces".
If you can't grasp the issues on social/ecological level then look at it through your pocket book, the one you say is being looted, and ask why the great American engine would be so ****ing stupid.
