It's not "our food is crap' or "it's a choice".  A larger part of the poorest demographic are overweight because the most affordable food is usually the least healthy.  It of course is more complicated and pervasive an issue than that but healthy food that is affordable and available, though becoming moreso, is still an exception to the norm.

Yes and no.   When eating out it's cheaper to eat unhealthy.   But eating healthy at home is just as cheap.   A couple crowns of broccoli and 2 roasted chickens is typical lunch for my week.  That's about 10 to 12 bucks for 5 meals.    I could do that or I could get 2 spicy chickens from the dollar menu each day.   My heart says spicy but my a$$hole says go with the broccoli.
