Exactly I would bet quite a bit that the improvement on D will be very profound this year.  As for Mathews and Cobb I don't think either one is going anywhere yet.  Maybe after next season but I don't think there will be anything really drastic come their way just yet. 

The fact that both Cobb and Matthews were out there playing hard in a meaningless game at the end of the season says a lot. Those are the guys you keep.

The other thing about Matthews is that even if the stupid construction analogy was correct (and it's not), he's still a guy that finds a way to make a game-chaning play a few times a season (forcing the interception in OT against Cleveland). He did this 4-5 times a year when he was younger, but he still has that ability. That's what separates guys like Woodson, Peppers, and Matthews from other players. You don't cut those types of guys if their contracts are still reasonable (and I think CM3 at 13 million is OK when you consider the top guys are now are or will be approaching 20 million at that position).
