MM ran the ball effectively when he had effective RB's. Grant, Starks, Lacy. I don't know what happened with Jones, whether he was still too raw to trust or wasn't ready for more carries than he got, or he just didn't recognize the talent. But it's not like MM didn't know how to run the ball.

Pretty sure he wouldn't have the choice. Jerry would probably shit a gold brick if Elliot wasn't the main focus of the offense.

Probably why Jones put Moore in charge of calling plays. He's barely started and MM is already Jones' puppet.
