Reply to "Adding a Starter/Reliever..."

I’m not quite ready to give up on Shaw.  He’s had a rough season, but is showing signs of getting back on track. You look over the course of his stint with the Brewers and he’s been pretty damn good.

As for Nelson, I hope you are right.  It sucks because at the time of his injury he was pitching at a very high level and shoulder injuries are sketchy.   He may never return back to form.  I hope he does or at least can return to being a serviceable starter in the rotation because it’s one less position they have to address.

Not totally surprised on Chacin as he wasn’t as good or talented as he pitched last year and Chase Anderson is what he is- a borderline starter.   I rate Davies a bit higher because he’s had more prolonged success but he’s probably a 4/5 guy in the rotation.   Woodruff is a solid 2/3 guy but right now he’s the only starter I would feel comfortable marching out there in a playoff series.  It’s difficult because unlike last year their bullpen is also significantly worse.   Had Knebel and Wahl been healthy we probably have at least 5 more wins because they could have used Hader more effectively and not have to have relied upon stiffs liKe Claudio and Albers as much as they have.

Should be interesting the next couple of weeks to see what they do or don’t do on terms of making a deal or deals.
