Philly is a mess and honestly I don’t see their situation improving much for this upcoming year.

Embiid is a paradox not unlike Karl Anthony Towns.   Both guys are amazing bigs but neither guy has that killer instinct and quite honestly they don’t do the little things to get better.  Making matters worse, Embiid (like AD) is just not reliable from a health standpoint.

The Sixers may be better off dealing Embiid as there is no chance that they get even close to equal value back for Simmons in return.  The Dame for Simmons rumors are laughable BTW.

What’s most likely is Simmons returning but he’s burned so many bridges at this point that team may implode.

KAT is a terrible defensive player. Embiid is elite on that end.

Both the Sixers and the Blazers are stuck. The Blazers can't trade Lillard for Simmons without setting their fanbase on fire. I don't care how good Simmons is on defense.

The Sixers will want Lillard for Simmons. If that happens, they are a legit title contender. Lillard's defensive liabilities are hidden by Embiid and others.

The Blazers will want Simmons for McCollum. If that happens, they vault towards the top of the West. Simmons doesn't need to score there with Lillard on board.

There aren't a lot of other options due to the salaries involved. Neither team can really afford to stay status quo.

I guess you could get a third team involved, but nothing happens unless Lillard announces he wants out.
