Reply to "Tyler Herro"

I think maybe being overlooked because of his build might have some similarity to Steph Curry, but it's a different comparison on other levels.

Herro was a good shooter at Kentucky, but it wasn't like he was anywhere near this level. He shot 35% from 3 at Kentucky (obviously with the shorter 3 point line) and a lot of those were fairly open shots as he played on a team loaded with other NBA prospects. Steph shot 41% from 3 in college despite being double-teamed constantly. In retrospect, it was no surprise at all that Steph could shoot in the NBA. He essentially single-handedly beat some good teams in the NCAA tournament (including a Wisconsin team that was 31-4 in the Sweet 16). Tyler Herro was just a good player at Kentucky that seemed destined to be a pretty good role player in the NBA. He is never going to shoot like Steph (in fairness, no one ever has), but he appears to have much better court vision.  Some of those passes last night where Magic Johnson-like (left hand off the dribble cross-court for a wide-open 3, hanging in the air and bounce passing for a wide-open layup).

There are games like last night where he was the best player on the court in a game that includes some perennial all-stars/borderline future HOFers (Jayson Tatum, Jimmy Butler, Kemba Walker). He and Goran Dragic are probably the biggest reason the Bucks are at home right now. Yes, Butler closed out two games for them, but when Budenholzer put Wes Matthews on him, they kept him under control. Bam could handle Giannis as well as anyone, but it was Herro and Dragic that were the X factors.

The Ringer.com ran an article saying that Herro's best comparisons are Buddy Hield and Jamal Murray. That's actually who he played like last night - Jamal Murray.
