Reply to "What is good, what ain’t"

Since our run defense seemed to better in the 2^nd half of the game I decided to focus on those plays to see what went right instead of being a pessimist and looking at how we failed in the 1^st half.   The biggest thing I noticed is we dropped the exotic looks and went with more standard 3-4 on 1^st and 10.   This led to more pass attempts on early downs and better results via the run.   Below is a gif of every run play in the 2^nd half, enjoy.    

Summary, we did really well.  Moving to traditional 3-4, having success with that, and the score of the game led to us only facing 6 runs in the 2nd half. 

3^rd Quarter

FIRST DRIVE

1^st play of drive , 1^st n 10

Pack in 3-4, Keke penetrates, Summers fills the hole, and Lancaster sheds to make the tackle with Barnes.   Well done.

2^nd play of drive, 2^nd n 7

Pack is in traditional nickle now after decent run stop on 1^st down.   3DL and a ILB is replaced by a DB.  Amos is up at the LOS.   All DL get a stalemate, Summers fills the intended hole, RB bounces to other side and Amos fills that hole.   Well done, setting up a 3^rd n 3.

6^th play of drive, 2^nd n 2

Pack in 3-4.   Lowry wins his 1 on 1 and Summers fills for the no gain stop.   Well done.

7^th play of drive, 3^rd  n 2

Pack in 3-4.   DL holds up alright, LB’s are there, King comes off the edge, but the back powers through for the 1^st down.  Not bad, Barnes could have been better.

9^th play of drive, 1^st n 10

Pack in 3-4.   Adam penetrates, P Smith and Keke hold the edge, and Barnes shoots the gap, beating the guard coming out to get him, and makes the play.  Well done.

SECOND DRIVE

 2nd play of drive, 1^st n 10

Pack in dime with only 2 DL and 2 ILB.   (4-2 front).   Lancaster wins his 1 on 1, penetrates, and Savage is coming in free on a blitz.  Summers avoids the guard and assists on the tackle.  Well done.
