Martinez would be fine NEXT to Bobby Wagner. Asking him to be Wagner is setting him up for failure. His stats are fine, but he’s not making key plays consistently enough that we need from ILBs. We also heard Philip Rivers mention there’s no cat and mouse with the defense, that’s on Martinez for not making the right pre-snap reads. That was one of Clay’s biggest strengths and it’s what great ILBs can do. Put a better guy next to Mart and we’re fine at ILB.
