As this mess grows more and more, looking like umm.. definitely not  Packer people

Four more lawsuits have been filed -- bringing the total number of cases in the court system against Deshaun Watson to SEVEN.

Accuser #4, Accuser #5, Accuser #6 and Accuser #7 -- all using the pseudonyms "Jane Doe" -- make similar accusations to the previous accusers.

All 4 women say they were contacted by Watson to perform a private massage and he got aggressive in pursuit of a sex act.

The new accusers say they never consented and felt violated. They're suing for civil assault and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Obviously, he's entitled to due process and he's denying all this. But there is also no denying this is evolving into a massive shit show. Reports now are, even if the Texans were willing to trade him, more and more teams are now backing off.

In the era of the #metoo movement, I cannot see how the league just turns a blind eye.

Big Ben got a 4 game suspension in 2010 for what was arguably worse (alleged sexual assault beyond just grotesque harassment by Watson).

But 10 years later, there is justifiable less tolerance for this type of thing. I'd say he's likely looking at at least a 4 game suspension. If the conduct in any of these cases moves to physical assault (and not just harassment) then he's looking at much longer.

Jail time?

is Watson sending a message to the vikings? Will he be chartering the Love Boat to show he's a team player? A solid locker room presence? Could Cousins' days in purple be numbered? Just asking....

Is it possible the Texans are doing this in a coordinated attack paying these women to say this as "getting their pound of flesh" since Watson doesn't want to play there?

I'd put nothing past that front office.

Some of the masseuses were referred by a Texans coach, so its possible/ likely there was some institutional knowledge of what was going on. And something shitty was going on - if you listen to their statements - those women were terrified.

I don't thing the Easterby's initiated it, but I wouldn't be surprised to learn they poured gas on it or shared more inside info with Buzbee.
Watson is a now sinner and he will be smited, smeared and publicly pilloried - for bringing shame to the Texans  and for rejecting them.  Watson's guilt/innocence will play out in due process; but in the court of public opinion -  the Texans needed a Hail Mary and maybe they found one.

The loss of trade value is irrelevant for the True Believers

You would have to be out of your mind to trade for Watson now.

Stupid Texans.  Had they dealt him early on heโ€™s now someone elseโ€™s problem.

What a mess

They are all โ€œmodel citizensโ€ until they ainโ€™t.  Didnโ€™t think Kirby Puckett would turn out to be such a scumbag but in the end he was.  Either this is the most well coordinated smear job in pro sports history or Watson really is a perv criminal dirtbag.

More than the lawsuits, the shear number of massage therapists he's had is alarming.  A lot of ex-athletes have touched on this, that they usually only get treatment from team employees and in the case where you don't have a team employee treating you, it's because you trust/like that specific therapist so much that you go outside the team.  So the logic is that if a player goes outside the team for therapy, it's going to be for 1 or 2 specific therapists as the only reason you'd go outside the team is because you specifically found someone better.  If you just wanted a massage and didn't care who, you'd go to the team.  So why would he have over 40 therapists?  Well, that's probably why you have the lawsuits.  Even if this all gets settled and no criminal charges are ever filed, I don't know how you'd ever want this guy on your team.

It just must be the power trip this gives people like this something to get off on?

Why did Darren Sharper feel the need to drug women to rape them? If he wanted some action, he wouldn't have had to try too hard to pick someone up in a club who would have consented. Bill Cosby was one of the 5 most famous African-Americans in the country and he did the same thing.

I was all in on Watson. He was being wasted in Houston, and next to Mahomie has probably the best skill set of any QB in that age group. Sharper fooled a lot of people for years, so it's not out of the realm that Watson could perpetrate such heinous acts. Just a terribly tragic and disgusting situation all around.

Ya, that rings pretty hollow. ๐Ÿ˜’๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ

In the end what this really means is "OK, how big a check do you need me to write?" to take care of our "misunderstanding.""

Maybe there will actually be some criminal jail time for this, but I doubt it. The question will be how long he is too toxic for anyone to sign and if the Texans can get out from under his contract because of any clauses they inserted for criminal behavior. Times have changed. Kobe Bryant should have been in prison for a few years for the rape in Colorado (just look at his own statement to the police when that happened), and if he did the same thing now there would be a lot more repercussions.

You have to read the Kobe case really carefully. I used to have links to the police report, but it wasn't nearly as clear as you make it sound. It was some pretty weird stuff by both sides. In the end, Vanessa got the big rock and it seemed like Kobe straightened up.

In Watson's case, he may never go to jail but the sheer volume of complaints is astounding. If they all have proof that he was a client, and if they all are telling the truth... it's damning and Watson's career and public life is pretty much toast.

I agree the Kobe Bryant case isnโ€™t as straightforward as it may have appeared at the time.  I do recall though his defense attorneys pulled out all the stops to paint the victim in a (shall we say) less than favorable light, and some of those details became public.

What I do remember very well was he spent upwards of 4MM for a ring for his wife, which I believe was more than the settlement paid to the victim.
