Looking at running backs for that role, Elijah Mitchell fits as a mid-to-late round pick. He is Louisiana's all-time leading rusher: 4045 yards, 50 TD's, and a whopping 8.9 ypc.

9.51 RAS Score

5' 10+

201 lbs.

17 benches

37.5 vertical jump

10' 8" broad jump

4.35 40

2.44 20 split

1.51 10 split

4.2 shuttle

6.94 3-cone

The only question might be how well he plays in the vertical role as a receiver. I think he'd certainly make a fine #3 running back.

Hard to say...5 through 7, I would guess. Same for Chris Evans of Michigan, another high-RAS RB.

There's always a chance a running back-needy team will draft them earlier than that, but that's where I would take them. Note, these guys are probably more pure running backs, than jet sweep/kick returners. That said, we could still use a number 3.

Ann Wilson...she could sing the phonebook and it would be amazing. One of the best rock vocalists ever IMO...

She would eat the phone book if it had some ranch dressing on it.

There could be a lot Wong with that if it's in China.

Wait....was that appropriate?

Mr. and Mrs. Wong were anxiously awaiting the arrival of their first child. A mixup in the nursery had the nurse bring them the newborn from Mr. and Mrs. Johnson.

The distraught father yells at the nurse "THIS IS NOT MY BABY!!! Look at him! Two Wongs don't make a white!"

I think it really does pay to pay more. Adding jags is adding jags, being able to discern not only talent, but properly slotting said talent is the key. Earlier draft picks tend to hit more because they have more obvious traits. It's tough to get a bushel of corn when you're pulling kernels from pile of turds.

Dark horse pick at 29: Texas OLB Joseph Ossai. Makes sense when you look at his age (just turned 21), RAS (9.5), the position value, and the contract status of the Smiths...this could be both players final years in GB unless they’re extended. I’ve seen a lot of speculation that Preston will be cut and Z will be extended, I doubt GB is banking on getting a deal done with Z though. Gotta have insurance at a premium position.

Damn... the draft is less than two weeks away already?  Time flies.  It will be interesting to see what Gute can get done.  Gotta believe a fatty or CB gets taken in R1.  I don't see GB going the route of WR or LB that early.

Anybody else think the new draft format that is spread out over several days sucks?  They took a great thing and flushed it...

Found some interesting tidbits on the innerweb at landryfootball.com related to past Packer drafts.  I think most of us know about Mandarich/Sanders and Ray Lewis.  This is the first I've heard about Bart Starr's decisions as a GM. Montana and Lott???  Wow.

1979 — Green Bay Packers scouts wanted to draft Notre Dame QB Joe Montana but coach and GM Bart Starr was not sure about Montana and instead drafted Maryland DT Charles Johnson.

1981—Missing out on Joe Montana, Packers HC/GM Bart Starr had to get a QB to try and save his job and took CAL QB Rich Campbell overruling the scouts who wanted to take USC Safety Ronnie Lott.

1989- Packers GM Tom Braatz and HC Lindy Infante may have lost their jobs by taking Tony Mandarich over Barry Sanders

1996- The Packers Ron Wolf was ready to select Miami LB Ray Lewis at #27 but the Baltimore Ravens jumped ahead of them and took Lewis. The Packers then took OT John Michaels out of USC over Texas DE Tony Brackens.
