Lol. You just pulled that 2% out of thin air.   Realistically, of the UDFAs who is a viable contributor.   Gmo and Vitale for sure and really Vitale is a FA.     T brown, Greene,  Tonyan, Kumerow are maybes.   They don’t have enough snaps in the NFL to proclaim they are any good.    If any of the others see a large amount of snaps we are in trouble.

Look, you see it optimistically.  Those guys are all destined to be the next Donald Driver.   I’m pessimistic, I see the majority of them out of the league in the near future.   So that’s the difference.  I would have hoped more of our 1 - 4 draft picks were taking those roster spots with an occasional surprise in 5-7.   We’ve been okay in the late rounds really, it’s been the early that’s hurt us.

Vitale was also a draft pick, not by GB, but he's not a UDFA...neither was Driver. I didn't proclaim any of the players were good, just viable contributors, which is an appropriate label. Some, like GMO and Lane Taylor, are more proven than others. Both Browns, Greene, Tonyan, and Kumerow have flashed ability to contribute with possibly a high upside. Just because they're UDFA's it's not worth the gamble? We should have kept J'Mon Moore, who showed nothing, over Kumerow, Shepherd, or Lazard who were all singled out by Rodgers as showing they belong, just because he was a draft pick? Yes everyone would LOVE to have a higher success rate on draft picks, but UDFA's winning roster spots is unrelated to poor drafting. UDFA is an extension of the draft, we might as well call our UDFA's 8th round picks.

" We should have kept J'Mon Moore"

No.. The argument is not to keep the trash we draft, rather, to draft better.   Y'all keep turning this into an argument about draft and develop.   I'm not making that argument.

The one and only point is that if we hit more on draft picks, such as Moore, we wouldn't need as many UDFA's on the roster, such as Lazzard.

Well...yeah...I think "want the team to draft better or hit on more draft picks" is kind of an unspoken thing we all agree on. I would wager every fan of every team would like that as well.

Gute has done some heavy roster turnover. Lot of new faces in 2018 from 2017 and he brought in 11 new draft picks. Since there's a finite amount of cap space for UFA's and a limited number of draft picks, then you have to seek out developmental players from somewhere. There's really no difference between players drafted 6-7 and UDFA's in terms of talent.

...... our need to go on a FA binge this year.....

Was thinking about this from a overall cap and roster perspective . We just paid our HOF QB a historic amount and went on a "FA binge this year" ...and yet our cap is still in pretty healthy shape. I believe the Packers are ranked in the #16 range as far as cap money available. Pretty solid after such "binge" spending.

Gute obviously had a mess to clean up with the roster.  At this point it looks like he's succeeding in how he's using FA, draft, and UDFA to re-build this roster. Results look promising at his point....better depth, better defense, etc.....
